Photoshoot gift

Hi,

We were bought a family photoshoot voucher when my baby was born and we recently booked it. It was through Activity Superstore and it said it paid for an hours photoshoot and a free print. Therefore we were allocated a photography studio to have this photoshoot.

We did the photoshoot and it was lovely and the examples of photos on the walls looked great. We were then handed the price list as we left. I fully expected it to be pricey. I work in the creative industry and know how much work goes into final artwork, but I didn’t expect it to be quite as much as it is. They want to charge £600 just for 15 digital images and an unframed 8” photo is £95. Do you think this is unreasonable? Would it be bad to only take the free print?

Ever since getting the price list I’ve felt really sad about it. I know the photos will be lovely but this was a gift and I wasn’t expecting to have to pay quite so much. I’m going to feel so bad to just leave the photos. It was a gift so it feels weird that the person knows I’ve had the photoshoot and all I’ll have from it is some tiny print.

I would just take the free photo. Those kind of things are a complete rip off.

Thats a lot of money for what you'd get, you could hire a decent photographer who would give you a package of digital copies for less than that, and probably better quality too.

It’s only £19 for the session - they make their money through the images , hence why they are so expensive . You will get the hard sell from here.

I expected that but didn’t expect it to be just so expensive! It’s such a shame that we took time out of work to just get one photo and the rest will just be deleted :-(

I think we’re going to have to! I expected max £300 for digital photos. We only booked it because it was given to us!
