AIBU to think I will need a seatbelt extender

Hi, I’m due to fly to Spain with TUI on a Boeing 737-800 and I am panicking my about whether the seatbelt will fit I have asked what length their belts are and they have said 33inches, so would I need to measure sitting down from either side of my hips? For reference I’m a size 22 weigh 17 stone 9 5”5 woman and have an apron belly however on a diet and 4 weeks ago weighed 18 stone 12 lbs so it is coming off but due to fly in 6 weeks

Hi, it went really well I did not need a seatbelt extender and I’ve since lost 2 and a half more stone and now I’m a 14/16 xx

I wouldn’t use an extender from Amazon as PPs have suggested. The extenders provided by the airline will be safety tested. The extenders on Amazon will almost certainly not be, and judging by the quality of some of the cheap no-brand crap I’ve ordered from Amazon, I wouldn’t trust it with anything safety critical. If my nail file falls apart after a couple of uses then fine. If a seatbelt fails in a crash situation then OP is not only a danger to heself by being unrestrained but becomes a projectile potentially harming other people on board. The cabin crew won’t bat an eyelid at being asked for an extender and will be discreet about it, but if they notice a third party seatbelt extender they’ll have to replace it with one of theirs.

You don't need one. I'm a size 22 and have never needed one. Most of my weight is around my stomach area. I weigh a bit less than you but I'm shorter than you too. You've got another 6 weeks as well so can lose another stone. Even now though, I really don't think you'll need an extender.
