Okay I know we shouldn’t be embarrassed about these things but I am. Has anyone had a fish smell from their stool when wiping? So hard to say it out loud even to type it!! Also have orange froth or mucus with it sometimes. It’s a few days now. Very frequent bathroom trips. Help!! What could it be? Very little about it on internet

Could be some sort of infection? Hemorrhoids? I think you should see a GP.

See your GP , it's probably nothing to worry about but I'd not assume everything is ok

MelMar1 · 14/05/2024 23:30

I was really hoping to avoid GP and putting it down to something I ate. So I guess I was hoping someone would shed some light. I find it really hard to say that to the doctor…..I know I shouldn’t!

Never ignore a sudden, unexplained change in bowel habit, just not worth the risk. Being embarrassed at the Dr's saved my life 8 years ago.

A friend had similar and was found to have h-pylori and took a course of antibiotics

PurpleBugz · 14/05/2024 23:41

I would get checked by GP.

I've got problems thatmean I poop myself sometimes and having to tell des this is mortifying. But just remember there are so many people with embarrassing problems and Dr is used to it.

A family member lost a kidney because they were too embarrassed to go dr for wee problems. Don't risk your health

You need to see the GP as soon as possible. Don't delay.

Gosh, 1000s of years of evolution, and most of us are still embarrased that we shit, pee, fart and vomit!! Boys love farting competitions until they grow up, then ignore their digestive tract completely, or won't get their prostate checked because 'the dr will put his finger in my bum',. I had a massive roww with DH recently as he refused to do home bowel screening (despite the life-saving prospect) because it involves having to ...well, you know, put a bit of poo into a tube!
Women largely remain embarrased about their bits and bodily functions, but slightly better at acknowledging them once kids start arriving. However, our bums are still 'no discussion' areas, despite probably having post-natal piles!
It may well be absolutely nothing to worry about, but please do go to your GP, if only to send a message to loved ones that says 'I have a bottom and I am not embarrassed by this'!
