Slurping from the plate

This is light hearted...

My DD17 and I have had a disagreement as I think it's rude to lick the plate and loudly slurp sauce off her dinner plate at the end of a family meal. Head bent into the table

She thinks it's fine and only rude in a restaurant.

Who is being unreasonable?

It’s very rude.

ILikePistachios · 14/05/2024 20:28

Its a gross habit, my partner used to do it until I told him to pack it in

sauceslurper · 14/05/2024 20:32

Is there any time it's ok with anyone?!

It's bad but at least she's not peeing in a swimming pool.

soupfiend · 14/05/2024 20:33

Its fine with family in the famiy home I would have thought

An indication that your meal is irresistible.

Mothership4two · 14/05/2024 20:33

When you are by yourself.

Pretty sure DS has the odd plate lick/bowl drink when he thinks we don't know.

DaughterNo2 · 14/05/2024 20:34

Nope. Doesn’t matter where. It’s absolutely disgusting

Amx · 14/05/2024 20:34

Absolutely grim. I wouldn't accept that at the table.

Sparkletastic · 14/05/2024 20:35

Very poor manners

BlueMum16 · 14/05/2024 20:35

She is not a child. It's not acceptable anywhere.

MavisPennies · 14/05/2024 20:35

I think it shows deep respect for the meal

Its 'disgusting'.

That sounds incredibly childish.

Disgusting like coming down with shit on your pants?
Disgusting like eating your own bogies?

That sort of disgusting?

Or just something you dont like?

Whats the difference from slurping from the plate to slurping from your spoon? Why is one eating your dinner and the other 'disgusting'?

bluetopazlove · 14/05/2024 20:39

Hmm who is she willing to expose this habit to ? Her work friends a husband her own children ? It's not going to go well .

When living in Japan. Otherwise, nope.
