To not payer cleaner

I asked for a deep clean of kitchen including skirting boards, floor, cupboard doors etc. She seemed clueless - spent ages scrubbing the oven with Viakal (stuff for bathroom limescale) before I realised and gave her oven cleaner. She had to be showed how to use it!!

she was here for three hours and it is a TINY kitchen - there is only about 1 metre of skirting to clean!!

she did polish the kettle well (!) and I had to stop her scrubbing a pot which was perfectly fine. She also did a superficial clean of the bathroom even tho I kept saying ‘please just concentrate on a deep clean of the kitchen’

Actually fuming. We don’t have a lot of money and thought we’d treat ourselves as we’ve had so much on lately. Feel really pissed off.

Thats not a deep clean. I'd pay her 50% and ensure i never used nor recommended her to anyone

Macbeff · 13/05/2024 13:31

How much did she charge?

EalingLucy · 13/05/2024 13:32

We got her through an agency. Not sure of exact cost as DH arranged but we looked for one that paid fairly!

Does she understand the words “deep clean” do you think? It looks like she’s done a very “surface” clean as though it was just to tide you over to an actual deep clean.

She spoke English ok. I actually pointed out the skirtings to her, plus the cupboard doors etc, she said ‘oh yes’ as if she had forgotten and then did god knows what - wasted time on things like polishing kettles. She was also incredibly slow and no attention to detail like leaving mud on the sink from a plant she moved, leaving bits on the floor, not polishing taps etc - sounds fussy but when you are paying someone 3 hours for one room they can at least get the basics right!

I’d say that you didn’t get the full service, pay half and see what reaction you get.

Whitelilacs · 13/05/2024 13:38

I’d go back to the agency and ask for another clean actually.

I did have something similar - a ‘deep clean’ which was anything but and I wasn’t happy but paid and just didn’t use the woman again. But via an agency is different and I think you’d be justified in complaining.

MitskiMoo · 13/05/2024 13:43

Get her supervisor round and see what they say. You didn't get what you asked for but the oven and a deep clean would probably take a decent cleaner more than three hours.
When DC were young I worked as a cleaner. Agency prices are extortionate with the cleaner probably making minimum wage. Looking at your photos, I couldn't do an oven and deep clean to my standard in three hours, let alone touch the bathroom.

InTheRainOnATrain · 13/05/2024 13:44

Talk to the agency. I had one regularly for our tiny 2 bed 1 bath apartment and the usual time was 2 hours. Then they sent a new lady who got to 2 hours and was trying to demand more time because she hadn’t even started the bathroom and else was cleaned to a poor standard either bits missed or things streaky from using the wrong products. In the end we agreed to pay for an hour, since the place was about half clean and they gave a 20% discount off the next clean.

TwoBlueFish · 13/05/2024 13:46

If it’s from an agency then I’d just go back to them and say it wasn’t done to your satisfaction and can they send someone different around to do it properly.

CountingCrones · 13/05/2024 13:47

Just ring the agency, they should send someone over
