Strapless tops/dresses with strapped bras etc

Including halter neck tops/dresses with strapped bras.

Everytime its nice warm weather, see women wearing for example, pink strapless top with a washing machine grey (formally white) strapped bra.

It's not a good look.

Underwear is meant to be worn under clothes, not to be on show.

I have difficulty finding a non wired bra anyway (cannot wear wired or plastic supports on bras due to eczema) and therefore don't buy and subsequently wear bras that required to be strapless or concealed.

I'm for women wearing strapless tops with a strapped bra of the same colour as from a distance, it looks part of the item of clothing

Personally it's not how I dress but I don't care what other people do really. Up to them, I guess they don't care what people like you think about it and fair enough.

FourEyesGood · 12/05/2024 17:52

Stop judging other women’s clothing choices.

Runningonempty01 · 12/05/2024 17:54

I am interested in what other people wear to the extent if I see something I like I might think I wonder where they got that.
I don't get offended by or judge what others wear unless it was a racist or misogynistic t shirt . I don't care about people going to the shops in their PJ although I probably wouldn't do it myself. Colour of a bra strap not really an issue.

drusth · 12/05/2024 17:56

Maybe they just don’t care, OP? Why do you care if they don’t?

firef1y · 12/05/2024 17:56

I quite like wearing contrasting bras under strappy tops, think it looks quite good. Never wear white bras anyway

GrumpyOldCrone · 12/05/2024 17:58

My partner sometimes wears braces in public without a jacket. The hussy.

People have been wearing underwear-exposing clothes for decades. I was surprised when I first saw someone’s g-string above the waistband of low cut jeans, back in the 1990s. A tiny flash of bra strap is not going to bother many people these days.

Penguinfeet24 · 12/05/2024 17:59

Don't really understand why you care what other people wear frankly. Mind your own.

fieldsofbutterflies · 12/05/2024 17:59

I can't bring myself to care about seeing someone's bra straps.

livesinacraptown · 12/05/2024 18:00

Lol really what does it matter

IncognitoUsername · 12/05/2024 18:00

Are you the fashion police? If you don’t like it, don’t look.

Precipice · 12/05/2024 18:04

I don't think it looks great, but there are many things I don't like the look of, which people wear in public. I don't like strapless tops in general, I don't like crop tops, I don't like items of clothing with holes or cut away pieces, I despise men walking around shirtless, I hate those clingy leggings/shorts that show both bum and bumcrack.
Okay, that last one I think is actively distasteful, whereas most of the others just look ugly to me.

But in general, it's not rare for me to see women who I think look half naked on top, or whom it's ... pretty clear what they'd look like naked. I dislike this, because I perceive it as a sort of self-objectification sometimes, and sometimes also because it shows me things I don't want to be shown. I don't think a little strap is like that, but if you do, then like me you just have to accept that some people do walk around like this.

BirthdayRainbow · 12/05/2024 18:12

Why do you think anyone cares what you think?

"have difficulty finding a non wired bra anyway (cannot wear wired or plastic supports on bras due to eczema) and therefore don't buy and subsequently wear bras that required to be strapless or concealed."

and?

You can always tell the Brits abroad.
And in the uk, when the sun comes out, so does the flesh. No shame, and if, as others have suggested, we don't look if we don't like, well we'd have to walk around with eyes permanently shut

MsLuxLisbon · 12/05/2024 18:27

I agree, it looks raggedy to me.

JaceLancs · 12/05/2024 18:31

It’s not something I would wear but it doesn’t bother me what others do
I have bras in black, white and nude which cover most options and am far too big bust wise to wear totally strapless or spaghetti tops anyway

Meredusoleil · 12/05/2024 18:31

I'm with you OP. Really don't like it. At least have the decency to match and find a coordinating bra strap to put on show!

This is so interesting, because I wouldn’t judge you at all. Im just the opposite because I was so strongly taught by my gran (she raised me) that one doesn’t show their bra straps that I just can’t. I never judge people that do, and it’s a shame because I’ve not bought clothes I’ve liked that show my bra straps a bit. Weird how unhelpful things stick with you.

Agree if can’t find a bra which is hidden under certain tops, don’t buy that top!

Have a few tops which need certain bras to be worn with.

This reminds me I had a great bra once from M& S, it was convertable to halter straps, racer back, and even came with a pair of transparent straps. Wore it a lot in the summer with all the tops.

Riapia · 12/05/2024 19:11

But they wouldn’t dream of appearing in public with a VPL.
