Globalism has killed socialism

With the ongoing rise of Globalism it means that any attempt to introduce a socialist state has been thwarted. There can be no redistribution of wealth via the welfare state etc as this is no longer affordable. The model does not work as there easy capital flight and capital transfer by the global elite.

All that remains is to tax the middle classes to smithereens and make them resent the welfare state.

Well it’s certainly unreasonable in terms of what happens to many of the humans, but this is the ultimate outcome of capitalism. And there’s no going back, sadly.

Am I unreasonable to think that we can no longer achieve a fair society due to capital flight via globalisation or lack of State control.

No but even a third way route to a fairer society is impossible now as the state is too small due to global capital sheltering off shore.

What do you see as a 'fairer state' @Noras? I don't resent the welfare state as it should be.
