Hi, posting to see whether I'm being unreasonable or not. I live in university accommodation, it's also university exam season at the moment.
Directly opposite my window there's another house, and for the last week since the weather's gotten nicer an older child (I think) has been outside with a cricket bat and ball.
They're practicing on their wooden house decking by hitting the ball against their house, so there's actually two constant sounds: the whacking of the ball using the bat, and the ball rolling on the floor 🤬
I have fairly decent noise cancelling headphones (sony XM4's) which DO NOT seem to be blocking out this sound. I do believe the person does not realise what a racket they are making because they too are wearing headphones!
I'm currently melting because if I open the window I can hear the sound which making my skin crawl every time I hear it.
I can't cope with this all summer. I dont even know what the solution would be.
AIBU: let the child play outside
YANBU: this would drive you crazy too
