There seems to be a horrible cold / cough going around at the moment in my office and my partner has it at home… any tips on how I can try and avoid it or do I just accept I ll catch it?! Sounds silly but I have too much on to catch it right now!! I’m feeling a little under the weather so it may already be on its way but thought I’d ask for tips from anyone who seems to do well at avoiding there bugs?!

Vitamin D and Vitamin C +Zinc. And hand sanitizer like its 2020

Wear a mask when around others and wash / gel your hands every 30 minutes. Apparently the US marines tested out whether regular handwashing prevents cold transmission and every 25 minutes was the sweet spot. Orange juice, zinc and echinacea too.

Bit overkill for everyday, but if you're worried about an incoming cold, might be worth it for the short term.

DH had a hideous cold/cough recently. We were all unwell in February for six weeks and I just couldn’t face being ill again. So off I went to the spare room and he spent a week watching tv and eating his dinner in the office. He would come downstairs at the end of the day and chuck his stuff in the dishwasher. We FaceTimed each other in the evening. Some may feel overboard but I have a heart condition and getting ill means I get very unwell.

Obviously stay away from your partner! Wash your hands regularly, clean your desk. More longer term but improving your gut health is great for immunity

Wear a mask and wash hands frequently
Avoid touching your face as the virus can enter via your eyes
Maybe some pretend glasses as a basic shield against coughing
Keep your distance
wfh if possible

Sorry just realised it’s your partner, not the office
Live separately if possible
Separate rooms
Separate towels etc
wipe down door and tap handles with dettol spray or similar
wear a mask as above
Can they wear a mask ?
hand wash/ hand gel

Windows wide open - respiratory viruses are spread more by air than touch.

But ultimately - if he's ill already he's probably past the most infectious stage, so you'll either get it or you won't. Often my partner and I don't get the same illnesses, it's really odd.

I think this stuff is really good. When I remember to take it!

If it’s the whooping cough there’s a vaccine for it. Sure takes a couple of weeks to kick in , in the meantime wash hands, mask etc

Yes, it works really well for me. It's seen off many a cough and cold that I could feel brewing. Definitely worth a try!
