I've never been a fan of the term 'best friends' but my sister has started referring to my 11 month old daughter as her 'bestie' and it's really bothering me.
I don't have a great relationship with my sister. I have to have quite strict boundaries with her because she has a lot of narcissistic traits. We never got along in childhood and although better now can only see her in small doses. I'll never leave my daughter alone with her because I don't trust my sister and I worry about her behaviour. She is a bitchy person and doesn't have many friends. She can make new adult 'besties' and lose them within 6-12 months.
Would I be being unreasonable to ask her not to call my daughter her bestie? Or do I just bite my tongue and let it go?
