People asking for building access

Hi, its a bit of a strange one, but I am wondering if I am overreacting because I am starting to get a bit worried at this point. I live in a block of flats and work from home. Two days ago when I was going to the shop some guy got out of the car when he saw me and said hello. I responded thinking it’s just one of the neighbours but then he asked me if I know the building door code by any chance because his friend locket herself in her apartment. I said that she can open the door via intercom for him and I can’t give him the code because I don’t know him. He said that’s okay and I walked away.
Today some other guy knocked on my door (so was inside the building already), he was wearing a green vest so I thought he’s from building maintenance. I opened the door but put the chain on. He said that the building door downstairs got stuck and if I can give him my key to open them. I responded that I will not give the key to him, I can try to open it via intercom if he wants me to. He asked if there is any back door he could use. I said no. He went downstairs to try to open the door again and later came back, but I kept my door locked and said I’m busy and can’t help him.

AIBU or does this look a bit dodgy? I asked the neighbour if anyone knocked on her door today and she said no, I am wondering if this could be just a coincidence and should report it somewhere.

It does sound dodgy. If you have a WhatsApp group or similar for the building, I’d warn everyone on there about being extra careful.
