Boyfriend of 2 years and I live together in a 2 bed flat.
He has the bigger bedroom (twice the size) as his home office and workspace as he needs the space for his job which is fine. He works in fashion. I have the smaller bedroom which is a weird L shape room with slanted walls. Our bed is in my room.

The built in wardrobe in my room is absolutely tiny and I've been struggling to fit my clothes in so I've bought an external clothes rack to get by. Today I deep cleaned the room, had a massive sort out and organise and set up the rail which was a huge relief as a lot of my clothes were stored under the bed.

Hes come home today and is complaining that the rail covers the corner of the TV? It's on a wall which is diagonal not l perpendicular to the TV wall. I'm laying on his side of the bed and can see the tv perfectly fine so not really sure what he's on about at all. He's really annoyed that I've put the rail there without 'consulting' him but there's nowhere else it could go as it's on the only wall that hasn't got a slanted bit. He's saying we should try it elsewhere around the room but I've already done this. I told him if he wants to try it he can do it himself and he tells me I'm being rude and condescencing...

Now he's saying I have to swap sides of the bed with him. I said no and that he could literally just move an inch to the right if it's bothering him. We have a superking bed so it's not like we'd be on top of eachother either.

NOW he's doing the classic 'fine well I guess I just won't watch tv in bed ever again'

What on earth 😂😂

AIBU? Should I really have asked him about this?

I get it's where he sleeps but he has a huge bedroom to store all his belongings, have a workspace, office and more whereas I'm having to squeeze everything into a much smaller room including the bed we sleep in! I would hope he'd take the sacrifice of moving over an inch or so in bed so I can actually access my clothes.

Ugh

Dump him. Seriously

JMSA · 02/05/2024 20:44

YANBU.

MrSand · 02/05/2024 20:45

He's a dick. Ditch him, and the TV in the bedroom too.

Froggy99 · 02/05/2024 20:45

He sounds like a dick.

Rosestulips · 02/05/2024 20:47

If that’s YOUR room then you can do as you please. Tell him to get a camp bed and tv for his office and go there

wafflesmgee · 02/05/2024 20:48

How old is he?! YANBU

Cheeesus · 02/05/2024 20:49

Suggest moving the bed into the bigger room then.

ItsADoggieDogWorld · 02/05/2024 20:49

So he has well over 3/4 of the space, I'm assuming he's paying 3/4s of the rent.

WheresFluffy · 02/05/2024 20:49

YANBU
I'd be tempted to suggest moving the rail, as he suggests, and putting it in the larger room.
That way it's well out of the way, sorted!

This.

Sick of hearing about these selfish fuckwits who take the utter piss out of the women they "love". He's not a keeper.

Good point!

Priminister · 02/05/2024 21:01

Honestly, is it doormat week or something? Assuming this is real, why would anyone think this is normal or acceptable?

InATimeOfChimpanzeesIWasAMonkee · 02/05/2024 21:02

Surely he's welcome to sleep in his own room whith his own telly if he wants to.

Peachy2005 · 02/05/2024 23:15

Move the telly out, he’s being massively selfish!

Gymnopedie · 03/05/2024 01:44

Call me suspicious but...

In what other ways does he expect the biggest and best while expecting you to take the crumbs?
