Can you mute someone on Facebook?

So you never see anything from them? Even on shared groups etc?
Would ideally like to delete this person completely but will cause issues so I just need to know how I can stop seeing anything they post and ideally restricting what they can see of me (without deleting)

Any tips?

You can 'take a break' from them for a while.
Go on to their profile then tap where it says "friends" (i.e. confirming that you're friends with them) - just under their profile picture. A list of options should come up and one should be "take a break" - you'll then get options of how to see less of them - i.e. only see what they post by going to their profile or limiting what they can see of your posts etc...

It's easy enough to unfollow or see less of them. I have never worked out of there's a way for them to see less of me though. Only by unfriending I think.

Stay friends but unfollow

CuntRYMusicStar · 30/04/2024 13:59

You can restrict them from seeing your posts in your privacy settings - I have mine so my posts are visible to 'all friends except 'x', 'y' and 'z'. Makes life much easier!!

I mostly just want to mute them. They are making it very obvious that they dislike me (no idea why) but I know if I delete them it will cast me as the one with the problem. If I see less of them fawning over people and being fake nice on social media then it probably won't irritate me so much about how rude and unpleasant they are to me.

This is someone I have to see often by the way.

You can make them 'restricted'

Tried the take a break option but it's asking me to sign in and I can't remember my details it's been so long.

Just delete them already! If they say anything just say you’re having a break from social media.

DrJoanAllenby · 30/04/2024 14:50

Don't involve yourself in silly games. Just block them.

So reset your password then

unfollow works. I had to do it to a lovely woman whose daughter was pregnant, 8 updates a day about her impending grandchild. I get she was excited but it was just too much. I see none of her posts unless I actively search for them.
