To be really worried about this?

Hi

posted last night as was worried about being sick but things have got a lot worse/different now so decided to make a new post

was working yesterday and was fine, came home had dinner and was fine, started to feel a bit queasy/sick later in the evening and ended up projectile vomiting. I didn’t have any pain initially but since then I’ve got a horrible pain in my right hand side- it feels like a stitch. It’s coming and going- last night I was lying on the floor of my room screaming in pain and my parents had to help me up, then it went away, now it’s back again but not quite as bad. It feels like a heavy sort of ache in my right side and right tummy/back. Since throwing up last night, I’ve been sick another 24 times (split across 7 episodes of being sick 3 times at a time if that makes sense) and have had diarrhoea. I just cannot keep anything down now and even drinking water makes me vomit. At first it was pink vomit with good but my stomach is clearly empty now and I’m just bringing up yellow/brown liquid now.

im starting to get slightly worried in case this is appendicitis, but the pain is coming and going whereas I was assuming with appendicitis it would be agony and not have any relief at all?

im 25 and normally healthy

im sort of wondering whether I should go and get some help now but at the same time if it’s just a vomiting bug I don’t want to be asshole that turns up to the GP etc and spreads it because you’re not meant to do that. And I’m worried this pain is maybe just trapped wind? But I’m also just worried it’s appendicitis and it gets worse if I ignore it

sorry- total babble I know, just wondered if anyone had any advice or could help at all. Thanks so much in advance x

If it is that bad I would probably call 111 for advice

heartbroken40 · 29/04/2024 04:11

Appendicitis often starts with vomiting and yes the pain can come and go. Please go to A&E right now

It sounds like gall bladder so you need to get to a hospital since your vomiting. Your pancreas can get infected due to gall bladder issues. I am not a doctor but have seen this happen twice with family. Its an A& E issue.

glassofjuice · 29/04/2024 04:40

I’d at least call 111. The right sided pain and vomiting do raise concerns of appendicitis. Sounds horrible OP, hope you feel better soon. Get some medical help.

Onautopilot1 · 29/04/2024 05:17

That's how my appendicitis started, and you need attention a.s.a.p. A burst appendix is life threatening..

BorisIsACuntWaffle · 29/04/2024 06:43

Sounds like appendicitis. Hospital
If it eases off a lot it may have popped.

It’s so weird because the pain is coming and going- it was bad when I made this post, then it eased off slightly and I managed to get some sleep, then I’ve just been woken up by it again and threw up again.

I’ll definitely get a second opinion then. Our GP opens at 8 so I’ll see about getting a same day appointment and if not I’ll go to A&E.

does anyone know what will happen if it is appendicitis? Will they be able to tell definitively?

Sounds like it could be your gallbladder especially if the right sided pain is high up and under your rib cage, bloody horrendous

mrsbyers · 29/04/2024 07:55

I’d miss out the waiting for GP bit and call 111 to find out about urgent care options

Sprinkles211 · 29/04/2024 09:04

Ectopic pregnancy? Whatever it is you need to seek medical attention.

Totally agree with this comment I had appendicitis when I was younger and this is how it started for me the pain would come and go on my right side best to go to A.E

toastedmallow · 29/04/2024 09:48

I stupidly thought it would be better to fall the GP because they can refer directly to the ward if needed (I remember they sent me to a medical decisions unit when I was unwell several years ago and it bypassed A+E but I think it’s going to be a bit longer now- I called at half 8 and was able to make a phone consultation so I’m hoping that comes in soon and they can maybe give me a prescription or something to stop the pain and sickness. I’m in Scotland so can’t phone NHS24 during the day because it just says to call your GP and I’ll probably end up waiting just as long if I went to A+E so I figured it’s better to wait for the GP at home and then hopefully they can prescribe something to help.

still being sick unfortunately although there’s literally no food left in my stomach so it’s just piles and piles of yellow bile and is really unpleasant. The pain is still there too although I don’t have a temperature 98.5 although I’m shivering like mad but I’m guessing since the temperature is normal it’s less likely to be appendicitis?

definitely not an ectopic pregnancy or anything like that I’m 100% certain x

Honestly I’m just desperate for something that will stop me being sick because I’m not even hungry but I am CRAVING water like mad, but everytime I drink it it makes the pain and nausea worse and then I projectile vomit again, but all I’m craving is a big glass of cold water

meganorks · 29/04/2024 09:54

You sound like you need to get to A+E straight away. I don't think a GP is going to prescribe you anything. I really think you need to be checked out at hospital rather than waiting for a GP call.

Hereyoume · 29/04/2024 09:54

FFS!

Get to hospital.

NOW!

Your politeness could end up killing you.

A burst appendix is a really unpleasant and nasty way to die.

Get to A+E now. They will triage, you won't be waiting "ages" .

RandomMess · 29/04/2024 09:55

You need to go to A&E

NOW

AliceKyteler · 29/04/2024 10:01

Just echoing others
GET TO A&E NOW!
That's what it's there for and this is definitely an emergency.

Cbljgdpk · 29/04/2024 10:04

I’d go to hospital; when ive had stomach bugs the pain had been up higher in my tummy and it’s hurt but not ridiculously so. This sounds like more than that; they can also give you something to stop you being sick while they check what it is

toastedmallow · 29/04/2024 10:04

Thanks everyone, think I was just in denial that it could be bad because I’m a bit frightened. I’m going to get my stuff and head to A&E now. Does anyone know what will happen? Do they just remove appendixes if there’s appendicitis? Sorry just never had anything like this before and slightly worried about it all

OP posts:
meganorks · 29/04/2024 10:07

If its your appendix it will need to be removed but they will probably do a scan first to check. But you need to be at a hospital for a proper check. GP can't do anything. And worse case he might misdiagnose as something else!

Throwingpots · 29/04/2024 10:33

When I developed pancreatitis I had all these symptoms. Hope you get yourself sorted op. You're in the best place

AliceKyteler · 29/04/2024 10:44

So relieved you are going.
Try and do an update in the next few days if you can. Take care though.

toastedmallow · 29/04/2024 12:12

No answers yet, the pain has moved lower and is going from my right lower abdomen down to my right groin area. Still waiting to find out of its appendicitis or not but not sure if the pain is too low for that now x
