Child’s coughing at night

i can’t bear it, my DD(5) has the most awful cough but worse at night. It goes through me and actually feels like I’m in pain with it too.

I’ve just moved her into bed with me so I can keep a closer eye on her.

there is a little back story in that she suffers from severe croup attacks that have put her in hospital several times so that does make me more nervous

has anyone else’s child suffering with a terrible cough? Were in the East Midlands and we’ve been informed by local NHS trust that whooping cough is rife at the moment 😟

Op so many vicious coughs going around, it's been terrible, my dc are at the tail end of coughing till puke coughs.

Absolutely, it’s been awful hasn’t it. I’ve got a bad cough as well, I can barely talk without coughing.

good to hear your dc are doing much better

They have been ill for 2 weeks and the other a month.

It's horrid and it's the whole thing family sleep deprivation also.

My daughter coughs all night and has done for months- it wakes her up. She’s also prone to croup and has been hospitalised for it. She’s got a brown inhaler now and the cough is reducing. We see the asthma nurse in a few weeks to see if she will be diagnosed with asthma

My now 5 year old was the exact same. After 2/3 years of constant antibiotics etc I had enough, made an appointment with the GP thinking id have to put up a fight for further tests, and luckily, we got someone who actually listened. He looked back in his medical records and said it could be asthma. So after some tests, etc, he has now been diagnosed and has inhalers, which cleared him up overnight.

Like your son, my sons cough would be worse at night and keep him up at night aswell.

Also my dd has been hospitalised with breathing issues and coughs and after many years of waiting and investigating it turned out to be allergy.
