Why do my brand new wooden floors have these marks?

Floors have just been installed but have these marks on a number of planks. Almost looks like moisture. Checked with a machine to check it was not a leak but the probe machine thing came back bone dry.

Im gutted. These floors were a treat.

Installed by a subcontractor our builders hired.

Have the planks been glued and it hasn’t yet fully dried?

Cramberry · 23/04/2024 22:37

The floors were installed two weeks ago @Haydenn

It's the wood grain, ours are the same.

Sorry ignore above I was looking at wrong bit of the pic.

I wouldn’t be happy with that OP

Doesn't look right to me. I wonder if there was something on the plank before it was installed and it's seeped through and up.

Biggybigbiggles · 24/04/2024 00:15

I'll ask my DP in the morning, he's a joiner.

blacksocks33 · 24/04/2024 00:18

It does look like a moisture stain and if it's dry now maybe there were damaged in storage?
Is it just on this plank?

You didn't pay for stained material, I would be asking for it to be repaired!

Glue can stain wood. Even drying clear, it looks like a film of water. I think it might have been too much glue used between the joints so it seeped up the joint and spilled over a bit.

The mark is probably on 15% of planks

Oh that is quite noticeable isn't it! I can see it on another plank in the top right of your photo.
