We rarely see the In laws - they ‘ have a life you know!’ Fair enough …..their choice never to see the dc 🤷‍♀️they know basic details about them that’s literally it as they aren’t interested ! I’ve long given up trying to facilitate a relationship.

Except they drove past me today and saw dd (7) in her major pushchair with her ear defenders on and drinking from her bottle on the way to a therapy session. I then get a text criticising that she still has a bottle. She has severe autism and ARFID !!!!! They KNOW this. I replied ‘Don’t comment on something you know absolutely nothing about . You’ve made no effort to get to know dd or anything about her so you have no right to any opinion and certainly no right to judge our parenting’ and blocked.

AIBU to think - if you don’t have the full
facts then don’t comment on it !

Quite apart from them clearly knowing nothing about your daughter's conditions, it's hard to imagine how tin-eared and self-absorbed you would have to be to make your first text in (presumably) a while with the parent of a grandchild with whom you have very little contact by choice be a criticism of their parenting!!

You're completely in the right. My DS with autism used a baby bottle until he was 5. Got plenty of funny looks when out but no one ever dared say anything luckily.

You've defended your parenting admirably. However, I wonder if a more tactful response may have been wiser. They are your in laws. Not a complete random person that you never have to see again.
