To feel uneasy ? Neighbours ?

Little things have been happening. First of all spit and phlegm spat in the middle of my drive way (shared). There’s no issue with parking and I always leave enough room for them. When I see my neighbour they’re friendly and we chat. But this must have been them or someone else has entered my drive way. Now this morning all my garden ornaments and solar lights at the front garden have been knocked over. Definitely not wind as they’ve very well stuck in the ground and have been fine in worse wind. It looks like they’ve been kicked. Aibu to feel uneasy and like things will get worse? I haven’t done anything to upset anyone

Get a ring doorbell, then you will know for sure if anything happens.

SpringLobelia · 23/04/2024 09:06

Yes this.

And sympathies. I have a neighbour who is targeting us and starting to escalate it so I know how stressful and ghastly it is when you just want to live your peaceful life.

Seeing as they're usually nice to your face, I'd get a camera before making accusations, just in case its some random local toe rags.

There are unfortunately some who will just nick or boot around garden ornaments for a laugh - no grudge against the resident needed!

The phlegm thing is rank, but some people think it's ok to gob wherever outside.

BobbyBiscuits · 23/04/2024 09:54

It seems bizarre they would spit on their own driveway as a vendetta against you. And surely they wouldn't be polite and chatty to your face?
I'd say it's probably not them. Mention it to them and see how they react? Could it be local youths pissing about? Def get a camera doorbell.
If you've never fallen out with anyone then you know you've done nothing wrong.

A few years ago we used to get 'the lads' walking home from the town on Friday and Saturday nights, they would knock down the keep left signs just for fun. I think that particular lot must have grown up now it doesn't happen any more.

I would expect that it's kids rather than neighbours, are you the only ones with front garden ornaments?

Ask the neighbours if they heard or saw anything, or if they've had any damage done and see what their reaction is. And get a camera!

Check with your Council if they have a anti-social scheme.

Around here there is(or was) a Council person who would collect anti-social DNA and the aim was to prosecute after a match with police data base.
Might be worth a peruse of your Council web-site.
And get a doorbell camera.

Victoriancat · 25/04/2024 22:13

Go round and ask them first if they've had anything weird happen in their garden, then get a Ring camera

CheeryPye · 25/04/2024 22:17

Certainly get a camera before investing too much worry in this. The spitting could have been a postman or anything. The ornaments it's entirely plausible for a fighting cat or fox to knock over. What I'm saying is be sure before you suspect the neighbours are out to make you feel uncomfortable.

5carymummy · 25/04/2024 22:56

Definitely get a camera. Works well as a deterrent tool and proof for law enforcement when it comes to that.

PuddlesPityParty · 26/04/2024 06:18

Why do you think it’s your neighbours? Could just be nuisances walking past ?

tanstaafl · 26/04/2024 12:22

Delivery drivers? Postman/woman?

Baba197 · 26/04/2024 16:18

Def get a ring go camera, it will show who u is a doing it, may put them off and give you something to go on

missmollygreen · 26/04/2024 16:20

If they are friendly and chatty with you then why do you think it is them?

BrokenRockCake · 27/04/2024 14:46

Could be youths or kids “larking about” thinking they’re being funny by moving things round. More likely than it being your neighbours if you get along with them. A camera doorbell like blink or ring may be a good investment to deter anyone from going on to your drive or in your garden.

No1toldmeaboutit · 02/05/2024 09:05

Definitely get a ring doorbell
