AIBU to reduce my already part time hours?

Hello,

I have worked for this company for 2 years now and I have changed my days/hours 3 times, all for valid reasons. I used to work 3 longer days (19hrs pw) but they allowed me to swap to 4 shorter days (20hrs pw) in September to accommodate school hours so I wouldn't be spending an arm and a leg on childcare.

However, we are now 7 months later and I am still finding working 4 shorter days really challenging with juggling life. I am a single parent with no family childcare support with 3 children 7 and under. Nursery is expensive for my youngest for the 4 days and I am having to rush to work in the mornings and rush to school pick up, getting no break at all.

The trouble is if I reduce my days to 3 school day hours I am only going to be working 15 hours a week which compared to all my colleagues working 37hrs pw is nothing. It just makes me feel uncomfortable to ask management for my already part time hours to be even less, when I am the only staff member in my department who is PT as the rest do not have children.

AIBU to ask to reduce my hours even more?

Which is more expensive, 4 days for your youngest, or 3 days plus wraparound for the other DC? How much longer before your youngest is school age?

I do think doing less than 20 hours is tricky in some jobs, but in others it would be fine to do less. Who will pick up the extra work if you reduce by a day?
