Thames Water / Estate Agent issue

AIBU to tell Thames Water to do one and claim back money from the EA?

Backstory is the flat we rent was sold and we are staying in it as tenants of the new LL.

Annoyingly, the EA told all our utility suppliers we were moving out last July without telling us. We only found out as we started to get final bills. I spent ages ringing them all up, explaining the situation and getting the accounts reinstated. This included Thames Water who also increased our bills to £50 a month - fine. We had a letter confirming the new plan as of Sept 2023, I set up a monthly DD of £50 as discussed.

After doing a bit of due diligence on our banks statements I noticed no DD has been taken since Dec 23!!! And that the account is showing as closed.

I'm going to call them but I have a feeling they will say the EA said we moved out like last time. Preempting this, but feel like if that's the case they can go to the EA for their backdated payments they will want.

Just want to vague opinion before I call and go in all guns blazing.
