It's a superb film, it really is, and very pertinent. But I'm not robust, although I'm much bloody tougher than I used to be, and I saw it last night and it's left me so pumped full of adrenaline that I woke up at 3.20 in the morning and have just tried to have a nap but I can't because I'm still so bloody triggered. And everything today is making me angry and tearful, and I haven't felt like this for a very long time. So now I'm an exhausted emotional rag.
So I'm not saying don't see it, but I'm saying be prepared and pad up emotionally if you can.
It's shock after shock, and it also has big awful emotional moments that really upset me.
I won't say what they are because spoilers. Just needed to say this.

It just sounds like the usual dystopian excuse for a lot of gore.

It really isn't.

It's very very good. Some bits were extremely hard to watch - but not because they were gory.

I was expecting a shoot em up action film (didn't know anything about it other than the title but DH wanted to see it) and left feeling a bit shell shocked, in a good way.

No it isn't. Apart from anything else the 2 female leads are pivotal and credible and moving.
It's a very good film and I trust its intentions.

It's definitely a film that stays with you. When it ended, the whole audience sat there for 30 seconds without moving and you could hear everyone breath out at the same time.

I thought it was very cleverly done.

I'm looking forward to watching this - thanks for the heads up.

GoldHinge · 21/04/2024 14:43

Can you start another thread with spoilers and tell me about it 😂

ghostyslovesheets · 21/04/2024 14:45

I'm really looking forward to seeing it - I was kind of expecting a mix of politics and shoot em up so it's good to hear it's more thoughtful that that. I'm expecting it to be a disturbing watch and timely!

Thank you for making me laugh I need to laugh today!
When it's been around a bit longer and lots of people have seen it I'd love a more content filled discussion but right now it'd be too cruel to reveal the big plot points. 😆
