I think someone just tried breaking in

I feel really scared. I live alone in a new build and just heard several loud bangs and shoves from what sounded like directly outside at the front. I live alone and I’m pretty much right near the end as there’s still building in progress further up. I also heard a car leave not long after the noises. Scared and now won’t be able to sleep all night

Ring door bell for the future

BeardedLodger · 21/04/2024 01:29

Put a chair under the handle if you can.

And call the police if you hear anything more.

Thedogscollar · 21/04/2024 01:30

Phone police and report it. Explain you are on your own.
Hopefully not what you thought it was but very scary nevertheless.

Thevelvelletes · 21/04/2024 01:36

Hopefully not your property, could have been theft of materials if building works ongoing.
Appreciate it's scary
I once had a random demanding a screwdriver at 4 in the morning... scary.

KikiShaLeeBopDeBopBop · 21/04/2024 02:09

Call the police.

I had someone lurking in the garden once, reported it online and was told I should have called, they'd have come straight out.

dontcryformeargentina · 21/04/2024 02:23

Let us know that you are okay

PoppingTomorrow · 21/04/2024 04:32

Call the police

rwalker · 21/04/2024 06:21

Possibly a food delivery new builds are a nightmare there often not mapped online
Drivers are literally guessing at addresses

menopausalmare · 21/04/2024 06:27

Get an electrician to install motion lights around the house.

Motomum23 · 21/04/2024 07:18

Get a security camera at the front door they are mega easy to install. tapo ones don't require a paid subscription which I think ring do.

PickledPurplePickle · 21/04/2024 07:19

Motion lights and a ring doorbell

ManchesterBeatrice · 21/04/2024 07:43

Unless you are in somewhere extremely rough, I feel a little bit like people don't make loud bangs when they try to break into somewhere.

Ring doorbell would be good though

unsync · 21/04/2024 07:46

I have a eufy door cam, it's much better than a Ring, especially for night vision, no subscription either. Also, LED floodlights on motion sensors.

It's more likely someone after building materials, speak to site security.

JFDIYOLO · 21/04/2024 09:23

Are you okay this morning?
Call the police and explain exactly what happened, so there is a record.

socks1107 · 21/04/2024 09:26

Definitely report it. We were burgled while we slept a few years ago but we never heard a thing

DrJoanAllenby · 21/04/2024 09:32

A burglar isn't going to announce his arrival by banging heavily on your door!

Saffy9 · 21/04/2024 13:54

Thanks everyone. All ok this morning. It was just very loud and made me feel really scared and sounded like it was right under my window. It’s quite a rural area with not much around so no clubs or pubs or takeaway places which made me feel worse. I don’t think it would have been my neighbours as they have a baby and are very quiet so I’m not sure what it was
