How many towels...

Noyesnoyes · 20/04/2024 18:47

I seem to have a total abundance of towels, it's just me and DH now.

Visitors twice a month, ranging from two to four people.

How many towels do I actually need?

We use bath sheets and hand towels, don't bother with bath towels.

We love very close to the beach, but have separate beach towels.

So I think 10 bath sheets, four hand towels?

AIBU?

We have 2 towels each for showering (8 altogether), one in use and one in the laundry. 4 hand towels - we only have one bathroom.

Dp also has an additional 2 towels for the gym.

We have one set of beach towels (4) but these are packed away in the loft with the suitcases.

Like you I was fed up with too many towels, paired it right back and it's never been a problem.

This is crazy. I can't see you ever needing more than 6 bath sheets, beach towels and 1 hand towel for each bathroom?

tobedtoMN · 20/04/2024 19:12

You can wash and dry towels in 3 hours so no need for' or in use one in wash'. That's just more towels to wash / store

Edit 'One in use one in wash'

MeMyCatsAndMyBooks · 20/04/2024 19:15

We have six. 4 people.

It takes all of 3 hours to wash & dry a towel.

HumanRightsAreHumanRights · 20/04/2024 19:17

We have one set in use, one set in the wash and one set in the cupboard.

If visitors come, they get the set in the cupboard.

I can't get my towels washed and dried that quickly. Please tell me how? It's not warm enough at the moment and it's raining a lot, but also the heating isn't on as much so they are taking a while to dry.

Also they might sit in the laundry basket a day or two before I can get round to washing them. A second set is certainly needed in my house.

We have 2 bath sheets each (2 of us) plus one spare in case anyone stays. We have a hand towel in each of 2 bathrooms, downstairs loo and kitchen and then a second set for when they are in the wash. We also have spare towels for the dog.

I can't get them dry in 3 hours unless I use the dryer so need spares. I just use the dryer to fluff them up at the end.

That's 5 bath sheets and 8 hand towels for us and a couple of old bath towels and hand towels for the dog/emergencies (like a leaky pipe).

We have 2 bath sheets and 2 smaller towels each, plus 2 hand towels for each bathroom. Then we also have 2 bath sheets and 2 smaller towels for adult guests, plus 3 old bath towels we keep for the grandchildren. And 2 swimming towels.
Sounds like a lot! But we have a heat pump tumble dryer which is very economical but takes at least 3 hours to dry towels, if not more, hence 2 sets each. And I like to be able to give guests a set each (apart from the children). I know some MNetters have said they ask guests to bring their own.... We don't do that.

Two adults here, no DC and no overnight guests (no room).

I have two bath towels (one for my body, one for hair). DH has one. The dog has three (one for the house, one for each car), and DH has two he takes for fishing and kayaking. We just use our normal towels for the beach if we go.

We have two hand towels that get alternated and then five tea towels.

We have a washer/dryer so I can wash and dry a load of towels in three hours, even in winter.

Thank you all!

I was going way over the top 😆
