Waking up with wet top

Zooeyzo · 19/04/2024 12:27

I've woken up a couple of my times with my top soaked but only in the front around the chest. Are these night sweats? I'm 45.
I wake up but never feel that hot.

I get these, I am 42

I have put it down to perimenopause. Blood tests didn't show anything up, could be worth a chat with your doctor if you have any other symptoms

CatamaranViper · 19/04/2024 12:40

I get this and I'm 34. It happens on and off and has been going on for a few years now.
Drs aren't worried.

stoptryingtomakefetchhappen · 19/04/2024 12:40

Yep I also get these from time to time and have done for the last couple of years. I’m 44. Nothing on bloods, suspect it’s hormonal. Links in with other perimenopausal symptoms I seem to have as well.
I also used to get night sweats sometimes as a teenager, so makes sense with the whole hormonal thing!

Zooeyzo · 19/04/2024 12:42

OK that's reassuring. I imagined nightsweats to be waking up drenched and dripping in sweat while feeling boiling. They don't bother me just get woken up and then I'm back to sleep quite quickly.

This was my only peri menopausal symptom age 43. I woke up freezing cold and drenched in the middle of the night. I kind of thought I would have been hot while I was having a night sweat but didn't wake up, and think I only woke when my sweat got cold and I was uncomfortable. Anyway I was really keen to start HRT due to my age and the symptoms stopped almost immediately after starting HRT.

I've not thought about hrt yet.

That definitely sounds like night sweats.

A lot of women get them around perimenopause but my sister and I used to get them at certain times of the month when we were in our 20s/30s. Some medications can cause them as well I think. And men also get them sometimes.

Dobbyismyabsolutefav · 19/04/2024 13:53

Welcome to the perimenopause.

Jasmin1971 · 19/04/2024 13:53

Definitely night sweats, I empathise.

Badburyrings · 19/04/2024 13:55

definitely perimenopause. I found a wool duvet helped massively and got a baavet

pharmachameleon · 19/04/2024 14:23

@Zooeyzo I was relatively young for the menopause so I wanted to ensure my body didn't miss out on years of oestrogen it otherwise would have is I had started my symptoms age 50 or so. Oestrogen protects our bones, heart and brain (probably) so I wanted it asap!

mammaCh · 19/04/2024 16:08

I've had them for many years. Don't think it's menopause related, as I've had 3 kids in-between!

Cheeesus · 19/04/2024 16:15

I found a supplement has really helped with mine. This https://amzn.to/49IPGDm

jengachampion · 19/04/2024 16:22

night sweats like that can be symptoms of multiple things so I would mention it to a gp
