Hello,
I saw this plant this morning during commute and thought it was so beautiful. I’ve tried online plant identifiers but nothing…
Is anyone able to identify it?
Thank you!

could be an antirrhinum? Also known as snapdragon?

RandomButtons · 19/04/2024 09:07

My guess would be antirrhinum family

Vicliz24 · 19/04/2024 09:09

That's a snapdragon.

Defiantlynot41 · 19/04/2024 09:10

Looks like astilbe (false goats beard!) Smile

Looks like rosebay willowherb. Which frequently grows by railway lines and other wasteland type places.

GoodOldEmmaNess · 19/04/2024 09:18

Another vote for snapdragon

I doubt it will be astilbe as they like boggy/damp areas and the whole point of gravel/train tracks is to provide free drainage.

Assuming it's too early for Rosebay Willow to flower but who knows with this year.

My money is on snapdragon. The bumblebees adore them so if you can get some planted then I highly recommend them. Lots of beautiful colours too.

Thank you everyone. After googling your guesses, Alstibe looks likely with its fluffy flowers.
Snapdragon's flowers seem too plump.
Thanks again, I’ll now try to find some to plant.

There’s other flowers in the antirrhinum family that are less plump - they self seed freely and bees love them all.

Stickytreacle · 19/04/2024 17:09

I'd go with antirrhinum too, my astilbes are very different to your pic!

TangerinePlate · 19/04/2024 17:14

Definitely snapdragons. Astilbes like moist environment while snapdragons prefer it drier. Look closer at leaves and flowers- plant OP posted has completely different leaves to astilbe and flowers are more compact while astilbe is more spread.

Snapdragon.

Florsilvestredelcampo · 19/04/2024 17:18

Astilbe doesn't flower until late spring early summer. I think snap dragon aswell.

OopNorfDahnSarf · 20/04/2024 00:22

I thought foxglove when I looked at the picture.

iutiut · 20/04/2024 01:06

Looks like lupine to me.
