Is it normal for laparoscopic stitches to bleed?

I had laparoscopic surgery 10 days ago. I’m seeing my doctor for a follow-up tomorrow, which is just as well, because of my 4 incision wounds, one of them seems to be bleeding. The dressings are still in place but that one has come quite loose and I had a shower today. There seems to be brownish blood coming from it tonight. Is this likely to be old blood that’s spreading because of the wetness from the shower getting in? It does sting a bit tonight.

I’ve tried to rest so much but have probably done a bit too much bending down today. I feel quite well otherwise.

Have you not changed the dressings at all? If the dressing is loose then it’s likely from the initial incision and the old blood is just being washed out with shower water. The incisions should be pretty knitted together by now.

Thank you for replying. Yes, DH bravely removed the plaster last night to inspect and said the wound looked good and sealed up and we figured it was old blood so gently wiped it clean and put a dressing over it. Brownie nursing badge for him!
