Sorry not an AIBU! “Jeggings” for men?

Sorry, this seems to be the busiest board.

My 18yo son is on the autism spectrum and is very picky about clothes. Hates tight waists etc As a child/younger teen, I used to buy him the jogger jeans from Next, but they only go up to 15-16 years and he’s just too tall for them now.

He lives in jogging bottoms but has expressed a wish for jeans, however they must be pull on jogger type, open hem, not cuffed and not “skinny” fit. Oh and black; blue doesn’t fit in with his rock god style apparently 🤣

So he’s basically after straight leg jeggings for men - I have googled and found denim joggers, but they all seem to have cuffs at the ankles. Has anyone ever come across anything like this please? Would be very grateful!

Could you try next or M&S for women's jeggings as the do longer lengths and are stretchy so could fit his frame?

Surely jeggings would be skinny fit?

Take the cuffs off the ankle of the joggers, undo the gathers, press, and hem. Should work as long as you buy the longer length.

Have you looked at removing the elastic from some of the cuffed denim joggers you’ve seen?

depending on how it was sewn in it might not be a big job and even if it is sewn in well it should be a simple case of unpicking the seam taking out the elastic then sewing it back up again and as it’s leg cuffs it would be a smaller job than say a waist for example.

He won’t wear actual trousers at all. Hates the feel of them apparently. School trousers were a nightmare! I’ve looked at women’s ones, as I like bootcut jeggings, but I can’t find any straight leg that aren’t skin tight, which he won’t wear.

River Island did a jogger-feel straight leg jean in their mens section recently, I don't know if they still have them though.

I found blue ones in m n s last September for a similarly picky son, no black though. Seems like a complete winner for someone who would stock them.

@JustBeingJobless Don’t forget you could easily dye a pair of jeans/trousers black.
so if they do become available in blue.. dye them

Also you could buy blue and just dye them black!

iv used the washing machine black dye . It was really easy and it worked really well

I'm the same as your son here, I hate the feel of tight or form fitting trousers. Definitely don't get anything with elasticated fabric (like jeggings). If he hated school trousers (almost always polyester or polycotton), you probably want something more breathable and so that means don't pick synthetic materials. 100% cotton, or even linen, is the way to go. (These are expensive, but something like this might do the trick, and they come in black.)

Do you know any dressmakers? There are lots of patterns available and wide range of fabric

Yes, like that but he’s not keen on zips and buttons. He likes a pull on trouser else they irritate him and end up not worn.

I wear the women's equivalent and they are pull-on, they've not got a zip, and just a decorative button

The men’s versions all show a zip and button in the pictures which is a shame. I’ll have a look at the womens ones too as they might be good for him.

For something like this Shein is a godsend. They have a lot of unusual items.
I’ve had a look and found pull on black straight leg jeans. If you do a search for Drawstring Jeans Men, you should find them.

Do they actually show a zip or just a fly? Mine have a mock fly but definitely no zip and the button is just decorative, nothing undoes.
