I sold an item and posted the next day, sending buyer proof of postage.

The following week buyer said item hadn't turned up. I apologised and said I would try to figure out tracking (postage purchased online, Royal Mail, not especially user friendly).

A couple of days later I had notification saying item had been delivered. I contacted buyer apologising for delay over weekend of not sorting tracking but saying I was glad it turned up. Buyer replied it had not turned up but Vinted had just completed sale automatically.

I finally figured out tracking, and sent to buyer, showing that RM had attempted delivery but her address was inaccessible. The item was (and still is!) at her local post Office Depot, awaiting collection or redelivery.

Buyer says I should have sent her this information earlier and gets Vinted to refund her. Vinted tell me sale has been cancelled due to no tracking of item for 13 working days. This is not true as there were not even 12 working days in between despatch and buyer arranging for sale to be cancelled. I have said this to Vinted. They do not care.

Parcel remains at buyers post office depot. I have wasted postage cost. Value of item is minimal. I am fuming at the injustice.
Advice or similar experiences?

You should keep the money from the sale as well as the buyer getting a refund. Is the money in your Vinted balance.
Its not always clear when they send a refund that you’ve still got your money

That would wind me right up as well but I’m like a dog with a bone with things like that! I’d also worry about getting unfair negative feedback so I would not let it lie but I realise this may be a disproportionate response given the low value of item!

This is why I've taken Royal Mail of my postage options list - with the others Vinted auto tracks when it has been posted.

I have tried to argue with Vinted about something else and didn't win.

Oh I feel better hearing from others!
@Autumn1990 no, Vinted marked it as delivered but did not complete the sale so I don't have the funds from it, sadly.

@OrigamiOwls the thing is, with RM collecting for free, it's much more convenient for me, plus the others are rubbish where I am

Im sick of Vinted. Most recent experience was a new branded jacket I bought which turned up and was obviously fake. I had pictures of the one I bought which was missing branding and labelling and pics of two the same to compare. No support from vinted, Im out of pocket for postage costs and they weren’t interested in the seller or photo evidence to stop him doing the same again. Wont be using vinted again, such a waste of my time and money

I know it isn't helpful now, but maybe for future sales, many sellers (myself included) have removed Royal Mail as a postage option to avoid these issues, they seem to be all too common.
I would definitely take it up with Vinted, but wouldn't expect them to side with you or be helpful. They definitely should, but their processes are rubbish.

Assuming the buyer doesn't now collect it, presumably it will now be returned to sender and you can relist it? It's annoying, yes, but at least then you're not down the item and the value? Maybe I've misunderstood though!
I have sold loads on Vinted (about 150ish sales) and have luckily had very few issues, apart from today when someone received a more expensive item (boden kids) and emailed me a photo of a mark and a small hole i wasn't aware of. Slightly suspicious as the person had already told me they weren't sure if it would be the right size... but I just agreed to have it returned at my cost as don't want any negative feedback, couldn't be arsed with any hassle, and I will try to mend the hole and get the stain out then hopefully sell at the original value!
