Worried about scan on Friday - ovarian cysts

I was diagnosed with PCOS a couple of years ago due to symptoms including increased weight gain, more body hair, excessive sweating and pelvic pain.

I have also not had a period since 2021. I didn’t realise this was an issue so it’s something I’ve never brought up to a doctor before, I thought it had happened due to my weight gain.

Anyway, my doctor called me this week to say that she has found a scan from 2020 (following birth of my son) that showed complex cysts on both ovaries, she didn’t know why it had been missed.

She referred me for an urgent scan and I’ve got this booked for Friday.

I’m feeling a bit worried about this and maybe it’s more than PCOS. I looked at ovarian cancer in the NHS website and I have all the symptoms. I’m trying not to panic about it but could do with a hand hold or any advice from people who have done this before.

I don’t want any more children (my son is severely autistic and needs our attention 24/7) so just wondering if it is bad what will happen next.

Didn’t want to read and run - I’ve not experienced exactly the same as you are, but appreciate it must feel really scary.

I have persistent cysts on my ovaries - I’ve been for scans over the years and have always been told it’s nothing to worry about.

Try not to jump to the worst conclusion. It’s good you're being referred now - the urgency now could just as likely be down to your GP wanting to make up for the previous oversight as anything more sinister. Good luck and sending a hand hold.x

I have had complex cysts on my ovaries before and was told that the statistical chance of them being benign was approximately 95%. Fingers crossed for you 💐

I have complex cyst on both ovaries. They are just keeping an eye on them, try not to panic too much…the chances are they will be fine.

Also sometimes too much googling does not help!
