Dentist moved me - newly pregnant & nervous

So I recently found out I am pregnant and I will be going to the dentist in May. The dentist I have been seeing has been my dentist since I was like 13 or something like that. Although I mask it well, I don't like the dentist it does make me anxious and I do have mental health issues (PTSD) which the dentist probably isn't aware of but my doctor would be.

I received a email last week stating my appointment had been rebooked with a different dentist than the usual guy I see. Now at first I felt paniced because I honestly feel really comfortable with my usual dentist, I've had him for a long time and I have just found out I am pregnant and feel quite vulnerable at the moment. I knew deep down that if he had left there was not really much I could do but I emailed the surgery asking about the move just in case it was an error. I had a reply stating my usual dentist was cutting his hours and so they were moving some of his patients to a new dentist as he couldn't keep them all. It sounded to me like they just randomly chose a handful to go to a new dentist but I obviously cant be sure about that.

I emailed back explaining that I have been with him a long time, I feel anxious about the move and that I am newly pregnant and feel vulnerable being handed over to a new dentist considering he is keeping some patients, I asked them to reconsider moving me. Is this a reasonable ask? Now I feel a little stupid.

Of course it’s a reasonable ask! Not stupid at all and no harm in asking! Hope you get transferred back.

I doubt it will be a problem. Congratulations on your pregnancy 💐
