Emirates - one piece carry on?

I usually travel with BA and I take one wheelie carry on and a cross body purse. I like keeping my valuables close to me.

So we booked a flight with Emirates and apparently the rule is you are not allowed a cross body purse and everything needs to be in the wheelie carry on? Is this right? Do they actually enforce this?

Just put the cross body purse in the carryon at points where they might care (checking in, and boarding the plane) and wear it the rest of the time?

What TeresaCrowd said, that's what I do.

Lots of airlines have this rule now, 1 item is literally 1 item

I don’t know about Emirates, but when I’ve had this sort of issue, I just wear the cross body bag hidden under a jacket. But I use a very small bag - just big enough for passports and a phone so it’s very slim fitting

Thank you.

my anxiety won't allow me to leave passport / phone / money in carry on. I will use a very slim bag and keep under jacket.

My friend (who is very crafty!) suggested sewing a big pocket in the inside lining of my jacket.
