To ask you to find my perfect UK wedding venue?

I imagine a summer wedding venue that is a barn, decorated with fairy lights and flowers galore, with various different food truck vendors and a stainless steel bath full of free beer for everyone, fire pit, maybe a band… I don’t want a purpose made wedding venue (unless it can be made exactly as described), I don’t want a sit down meal picked from a menu that was specified to me…

Anyone been to a wedding like this?! North West based but would wed anywhere in England.

No budget… of course there would be one.. but not important at this stage lol.

Have you tried the Hitched app? We loved it when we got married. Where in the UK are you looking?

Sorry you literally said North West! I will check my old wedding plans and see if any are in there x

I know you said England, but Comrie Croft in Scotland fits this perfectly, and has lovely accommodation for your guests in the steading too. Barn, fairly lights, you can choose whichever food vendors you want (and yes there are truck options), woods, hillside, bliss. Not a traditional wedding venue.

*edit the flowers are all grown on site too

Abels Harp is fabulous. Although quite rural. It's not too expensive on the deals they offer. Feeding alpacas. the views are lovely.
Glamping pods and hotel rooms, it's quite intimate.
shropshire so your side of the country.

You will want an actual wedding venue.

I've had friends who have had these dreamy rustic ideas and then realise that even if they do find some barn that is free of animals they would then have to hire EVERYTHING...generators, toilets, cutlery and glasses.

My suggestion would be is money is no object that you go to one of the many premium wedding barns in Cheshire (Owen House, Sandhole).

Also seen people have lovely weddings at Wellbeing farm in Bolton:https://thewellbeingfarm.co.uk/?gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjw2uiwBhCXARIsACMvIU3AVVKiJcYwNapjPKSg4UJ-eggfwuZ95YW62fFTb2OSYuopwvZBtQgaAr2CEALw_wcB

If you'd be willing to have more of a village hall vibe or if you have less of a budget I'd suggest Mobberley Victory Hall: https://www.mobberleyvictoryhall.uk/

Curve ball suggestion but check out Chester Zoo weddings.

Look at Clitheroe - numerous options, Tithe Barn at Browsholme Hall would fit the brief.

Hazel Gap Barn in Nottinghamshire

Newname71 · 13/04/2024 21:04

Tower Hill barns looks amazing ❤️. It’s in Llangollen so not a million miles from North West England

RedSuedePump · 13/04/2024 21:06

Sandhole Oak Barn in Cheshire! i went to a brilliant wedding there a couple of years ago and it pretty much ticks all your boxes. they didn’t have food trucks but did have an ice cream stall so may be worth a look

Newname71 · 13/04/2024 21:06

You can get married indoors or outdoors

Given the number of threads I see on mumsnet from disgruntled posters who have been invited to weddings can I suggest that you pick a venue that is easy to get to without too much expense for most of your guests.

You might find the perfect venue aesthetically, but find that most people are unwilling to travel and spend £££ on a hotel.

Sammilouwho · 13/04/2024 21:08

There's quite a few in Cheshire that would fit the bill. Definitely Sandhole Oak Barn :)

RainingOnMyFace · 13/04/2024 21:10

There are loads of beautiful venues just as you describe!
Then if you want a photobooth, I'm your woman 😂🥰 I have a converted vehicle one that would fit really well with your food truck idea.

Was going to say the well-being farm - festival style barn wedding dream!

DPotter · 13/04/2024 21:16

A plea for your guests - not too far away from where the majority live. Think of their travel and accommodation costs please

WickWood · 13/04/2024 21:18

All in Bolton, but Spring Cottage, Rivington Barn or the Wellbeing Farm, as above!

GladDuck · 19/02/2025 12:41

Hi, you should visit Southend Barns wedding venue in West Sussex. It’s a really beautiful place and perfect for you, as it matches all the criteria you mentioned.
