Realisation about my health

It's not good. I drink, I vape, I eat way too much shit. I'm overweight. Not by loads but I'm definitely bloated and flabby.

I used to walk a lot but don't anymore since I started a new job. The hours and commute are longer. I don't have the time or inclination to go out for a walk when I get home like I used to when I wfh.

I honestly look like shit. And I took my dc for a bike ride earlier today and had to come home after about 15 minutes because I couldn't do it. We used to bike for miles.

I need to overhaul everything but I don't know how. All these bad habits have developed over time and are probably a lot to do with having no social life, demanding dc and very little breaks. I started using wine, takeaways and vaping as 'treats' but I can see how that they are fucking my health up.

How do I totally change my mindset and lifestyle?

You already have by posting here! This is the first step. Small steps every day is the answer. Good luck

Pick one thing to change to make you feel better. Stick at it.
In another month pick another thing.
You’ve got to want it.
I’d start with the vapes and maybe upping the exercise to one walk a week to start with.
Cut out some of the crap. Then a little bit more.

Have your treats at the weekends, and eat healthy during the week. Make your own healthier (and cheaper) "fake aways". If you like gin or vodka switch to that with slimline mixers, wine is v calorific. Make changes gradually, and you won't feel deprived. Maybe put aside the money you would have spent on takeaway for a clothes splurge, as you will slim down. Good luck.

It’s so easy to slip into these habits, especially when life feels hard. I don’t think the Covid lockdowns helped, although I’ve still got baby weight to lose from my last pregnancy (DS is 12!) I’ve also developed some habits over time that aren’t helping my health. Nothing terrible, but enough to feel like I want to
make changes.

For me, I’m taking it a day at a time. Every day I’m aiming to eat a good meal, take a bit of exercise (even if it’s only ten minutes yoga), have less than 2 hours screen time, read my book, spend some time outside, communicate with a friend and stick to one sweet treat or small glass of wine.

Im unlikely to be running the London marathon next year but hopefully I won’t look like I got poured into my jeans and forgot to say ‘when!’

Best of luck to you. There are lots of us like this, so thanks for posting,
