All I look forward to is going on holiday!

There. I have said it and feel really shallow.
I have a nice life, lovely family and a job I love but I feel miserable if I don't have a holiday to look forward to.
It's the only thing that gives me a little flutter in the belly and gets me excited!
We could really do with not going this year and saving some money. I hate going away for the weekend and prefer a week or two somewhere else.
I wish I was one of those people who could be happy at home. I feel quite depressed if I don't have a holiday to look forward to. Irony is when I am there I am not that bothered. It's more the anticipation. It is the countdown and daydreaming I like. Not the actual holiday itself! I do enjoy it but prefer the build up!

I feel exactly the same. I have a happy day-to-day life, so it's not just escapism. I get antsy if we haven't got something booked in to look forward to.

Me too! I got back from my holiday yesterday morning and I've been all
Sad today knowing we're not going anywhere anytime soon Sad

Antsy is a perfect word for it! 😀

Totally get it! I always try to make sure I have booked one holiday "ahead" so that it isn't so miserable coming back, even if that holiday is like a year away. I am all about spending my money on doing things/going places and not buying physical stuff

ClaudiaCattipuss · 12/04/2024 00:06

I'm the opposite!

We've booked the Seychelles in November and all I can do is stress about it!! I dislike travel, addressing the long flights (yes, plural!) and could do without it but felt I had to as it's our 10 year anniversary this year and I felt sorry for my husband as I always try and keep holidays to 4 days Grin

  • dreading the long flights, that should say!
TheCheekyKob · 12/04/2024 00:08

Me too!

Although this has all started since our kids got slightly older and covid is over.

So far this year we have done paris and still have Spain, California to look forward too. We are away at Xmas but in the UK.

Im already looking at next years holidays! Annoyed that flights are not out!

toddlermam · 12/04/2024 07:12

I am the exact same! We've already been to Thailand, Malaysia, Disneyland Paris + Tenerife so far this year. Heading to Mexico on Sunday! 😳

It gives me pure joy.

Is it just the travel you dislike. If you werent going what would you want to do instead?

@peebles32 a few things really!

We went to Portugal a couple of years ago for 4 days. I was sick on the plane. So Christ - if I can't manage that how the hell will I cope with a flight to the Seychelles?!

Also we are leaving behind our youngest. And yep, he will be 18 and yes, his older sister will pop in each day, as will my own sister but I still will worry being so far away.

And finally - I like my house Grin

However I also appreciate that it's such a privilege to get to do this and I really do want to see turtles and palm trees and that lovely turquoise sea but meh ... I could also do without it

So yes - opposite to you!

BarrelOfOtters · 12/04/2024 10:51

Yep the same. We've already been away this year but haven't got another holiday booked and I'm feeling antsy. I need one booked and in the bag.

Dareisayiseethesunshine · 12/04/2024 11:01

We had 4 holidays last year. And some camping trips. I feel absolutely lost as haven't booked anything this year. Possibly moving and saving instead..
Sheer mental escapism from the stress of everyday life.

Not ashamed to admit it.
