To ask you what is wrong with my DD???

DD has had stomach issues for 2 years now - still under investigation. We are on holiday now and she has this rash. Her skin looks mottled and there are some small patches that I thought were bites but actually there are now lots of other pin prick, slightly raised spots on her torso. I’m guessing this is likely completely unrelated to the stomach issues, but I didn’t want to drip feed. Other than the ongoing stomach issues, she has had a cough for the last 4 week. The gp saw her before our holiday and her chest was clear. I’ll take her to a pharmacy tomorrow but I’m just a little worried. Does this rash look familiar to anyone on here? Thanks

Are you the one with the other thread about her stomach issues? To be honest unless the photo doesn't show it well that doesn't even look like a rash 🤷‍♀️ maybe prickly heat or heat rash?

HazelTurtle · 11/04/2024 21:06

No, I have no other threads. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I can’t see a rash

HazelTurtle · 11/04/2024 21:08

In the picture I uploaded, there are 3 spots which I thought were bites initially. If you zoom, you should be able to see the pin prick spots. There is also a general mottled appearance to the skin.

Hold on, I’ll try another pic.

Are you somewhere hot?

MeMyCatsAndMyBooks · 11/04/2024 21:10

Heat rash

HazelTurtle · 11/04/2024 21:10

Can you see it now?

The pin pricks are harder to see, but it should be visible when zoomed.

It’s 20 - 25 degrees?? Would that be hot enough for heat rash? It’s only on the abdomen and back.

Heat rash?

FictionalCharacter · 11/04/2024 21:14

The pics are out of focus, so it's really hard to see the detail of the spots.

HazelTurtle · 11/04/2024 21:29

Thanks @FictionalCharacter. they do look clearer on my phone than they seem to look on here. DD is in bed now, so I’ll have to wait and take her to the pharmacy tomorrow.

How old is your DD?

Velvian · 11/04/2024 22:53

My DS (age 10) has been like this for a few years now. From about 4 onwards he started to get quite skinny, very regular raised rash on his arms and stomach issues.

For DS it is definitely worse when he eats a lot of gluten. We figured out his toilet accidents coincided with macaroni cheese days at school. I think the flour in the pasta, combined with flour in the cheese sauce was just too much. Having said that he has had a Coeliac blood test, which was apparently negative.

He was referred to a paediatrician and they could not come up with a cause. He is coming up to 11 now and I think he is starting to get a bit better. He can eat a bit of pasta without incident and I think he us getting a bit less skinny.

Sorry that's probably not any help, but wanted to say you're not alone.

Velvian · 11/04/2024 22:54

Also DS quite often has rosy cheeks that can get dry.

Solocup · 12/04/2024 00:59

blood tests for celiac can give false positives; and endoscopy would be required. Referral to gastroenterology

lemonmeringueno3 · 12/04/2024 10:42

No idea about her stomach issues but that looks like a fairly typical, mild viral rash that is probably linked to her cough. You do seem very intense. Try not to worry. I hope you get some reassurance from the pharmacist.
