Couple in the flat above have been having a screaming match back and forth LOUD for the past couple of hours. They don't speak English so can't even get the gossip on what it's about 🤣

Loud shouting/screaming/ door slamming constantly from both parties. This happens every couple of weeks and I'm getting really fed up with it!

They have 2 young children and it's a 1 bed flat so they must be exposed to it too, which is really sad.

AIBU to knock on the door or should I mind my own business?

Ring the police.

Call the police. It's emotional abuse of the children and you don't know there isn't any physical abuse going on.

I always think that people who behave like this when living in a flat must know that others can hear when they raise their voice. In doing so they're making it your buisness by expecting you to put up with it.

If its an on going thing grab a broom and bang on the ceiling.
If you want to shout do so but if there's kids try not to use strong swear words.

Once done If there's a knock on the door within 20 minutes don't answer....unless you go broom in hand.

I'd phone Child Services in the morning as it sounds as if the children are living in a very difficult environment.

And record what you can hear from your flat as evidence of the scale of the noise.

Call the police because a/ they'll realise their rows are disturbing their neighbours and b/ it's a check on the kids and any vulnerable adult in the household

Just call the police, do a 101 log. Try and record what you can in future if it carries on. If people want you to stay out their business they need to keep it out of your home. It isn't fair for you or their children to be witnessing it. Hopefully the police can make them see some sense xx

Call the police. Where I live exposing children to screaming matches between their parents would be viewed as Family Violence.
