Barking dog on holiday park

We are staying for a week in Devon and the caravan next to us goes out in the evening leaving their poor dog..it barks non stop for well over two hours each night. Without a minutes break.
We have a baby so can't go out and I'm sick of listening to it bark every evening.
I lost my temper last night as I was so tired and went to the entertainment centre and complained, not sure if they notified the owners but they came back about ten.
Now same thing again tonight.
AIBU to complain to the caravan park tomorrow? It is literally non stop the entire time they are out. The people next door to us also commented to me about it yesterday.
Would also add, we own a dog, he's a home being dog sat by my mum! I wouldn't leave him alone to bark like that for his and other peoples sanity.

Presumably they can hear the poor thing when they leave and as they return. Of course they will know it barks.

Edited

Yep. They'll know, they just won't give a fuck.

@Jc2001
Yeah there is a long road walking down to this set of caravans so unless they are deaf they will hear it the whole way down, they don't take their car in eve.
Tbf they have taken the dog out every day all day with them, but the poor mite pacing last night and barking for three hours

@miffl How is it tonight? Have they left the dog and gone out again?? I wonder if they've been spoken to. I hope so!

Keep complaining and insist of some amount of refund.. We paid 2k for a holiday cottage. Wilds of nowhere.. Except the neighbouring cottage with a fucking dog that barked repeatedly all night. Emailed owner who contacted the ndn. Denied his ddog barked. Even when I sent a recording.. Never booking any of her homes again. Absolute piss take your holiday op. Get complaining.. Every day.

Totally normal on a caravan site take the baby in the pram and have fun. It may be that they are owners and trying to train the dog to be left in the caravan

Jeez - don’t inconvenience the dog or its owners. Make the knackered new mum go out with a pram several hours in the dark and cold. That’s not ‘fun’. Or reasonable.

pollypocke · 11/04/2024 20:38

We stayed in a similar accommodation on holiday and had a similar problem. We had our dogs with us but one of the rules of the site was not to leave dogs unattended, not that we would anyway we brought them on holiday because we wanted them with us, but the people staying next door to us had 3 dogs who used to bark on and off in an evening because the owners used to go for a drink. It was really annoying and very loud with it being 3 of them but we never actually complained but I wish we did because it was a nuisance. I'd definitely complain especially if the dogs are barking none stop, it must be really distressed

LeaveTheClocksAlone · 11/04/2024 20:38

I fucking hate twats like this

Dareisayiseethesunshine · 11/04/2024 21:11

Nobody of sound mind picks a caravan trip to train a ddog ffs.....

miffl · 11/04/2024 21:18

No they haven't left the dog tonight. Their four kids are however running round screaming their heads off, completely unattended. The youngest seems a toddler.

Animal cruelty neglect

God they sound like the worst kind of people. Am glad you've not got to listen to him barking his head off again tonight but urgh about the semi-feral children.

If it's any consolation at all just be very glad you've only got to put up with them for a week somewhere poor sods have to live next for them, their 4 kids and the poor neglected dog all year round. Sad

@ZipZapZoom
Yes thank goodness. Back to our street which is mostly full of elderly people, IMO the easiest neighborhood!

Sounds like you'll thankfully at least have a quiet night's sleep once home. I pity their poor neighbours though. Hopefully for the rest of your holiday they are less inconsiderate.

Kelly51 · 11/04/2024 23:37

We have a baby so can't go out yes you can, put the baby in the pram, surely you're not on holiday to sit in every night?

Danielle9891 · 12/04/2024 00:03

That's annoying. It's fine taking your dog on holiday if you are willing to stop in with them and not let them bark constantly but to leave them for hours by themselves in a place they probably haven't been to before Is cruel. We mostly get a dog sitter for our dog and cats and they have always been much happier in their own home.

Puppupandaway · 12/04/2024 08:00

So sorry. Hope it's not completely ruined your holiday.

Londonrach1 · 12/04/2024 08:04

Holiday parks are strict about dogs. Tell reception today.

UndertheCedartree · 12/04/2024 08:14

Not that you should have to but is there any reason you can't go out with your baby and let them sleep in their pram? I'd not just sit in listening to the dog barking night after night.

supersonicginandtonic · 12/04/2024 08:25

Having a baby does not stop you going out on an evening? Have you really gone away to sit in a caravan all evening?
The kids running around and making noise is a non issue. You're on a holiday park during school holidays 🤦🏼‍♀️
The dog barking is annoying though.

miffl · 12/04/2024 08:48

Well we are off home today so now a non issues so I'll be hiding this thread now and NR.
Thanks to those who got that the dog barking was annoying and that we were also concerned for its welfare as it was clearly miserable.
I've no idea why so many people are triggered by the fact that we don't want to go out in the evening. How weird.
A choice of sitting in with picky bits and a box set with my DH who I like enough to have married..or sitting with Dave and Cheryl from Hartlepool taking about their corns playing the tacky bingo on offer at the entertainment. I think my baby is happier asleep in her cot than listening to the blaring music or being dragged out in the cold/wind/rain to wander around a deserted town. Happy to be boring. And knackered.

@Puppupandaway

You have my sympathy, we had neighbours on holiday who had outdoor barbecue parties til midnight. Thankfully they only stayed 2 nights else

They're on holiday. Midnight is hardly unreasonably late. What a fun sponge.
