PITA parking by CF neighbours.

HA houses with allocated parking space system.

New neighbours moved in last year who park so inconsiderately I can hardly get in and out of my car.

It started with them parking very close to the line that divides the spaces so it would be a squeeze to get into the car.
I had to start pulling forwards into the space so the car seat would be on the opposite side from CF neighbour as otherwise its impossible to get it in the car!

But now they have begun parking right on the line or half of the time OVER the line so in my space! Making it impossible for me to get into my car on the drivers side so I have to climb over the passenger seat. Not fun with back ache!

And to top it off they fold in MY wing mirror even though the lack of space is caused by them. So annoying as after I've scrambled across the passenger seat into the car I then have to pop my mirror back out as they've folded it in.

I know I should let it go and not be petty but it's really grinding my gears! Why do people have to be so inconsiderate like this?!

I've not even got started on the constant smell of weed infiltrating our house daily even with the windows shut and the delightful sound of her screaming at her children to "shut the fuck up" at 11.30pm or the constant banging by said children on our shared walls all night long.

I've managed my entire adult life to live in close proximity to others without disturbing them or being a twat. Don't understand why people do it. It's not that hard to be considerate is it?

Complain to the housing authority, particularly about the noise and the weed. Park over the line into their space or next time you can’t get into your car knock on their door and tell them to move theirs. Park your car so that your drivers side isn’t next to their car. And bend their wing mirror in. You f they complain you can say “yes, I find it annoying when you bend mine too”

McLovinn · 10/04/2024 11:56

@LoveSandbanks I have previously complained to the housing association about the smell of weed, the noise and have mentioned the parking although that was the least of my concerns against the other two but the housing association is a joke.. They've said they will not do anything about the smell of weed unless the police attend the house but the police have said they won't do anything. The housing association says the noise problem and the parking is just a "lifestyle difference"...

Disgusting really as they've just whacked the rent up even more but can't live peacefully in my own home.

Can you park the other way round so your passenger door is next to theirs?

McLovinn · 10/04/2024 12:02

@Flyonthewall01 that is the side that has the car seat fitted with the ISOfix and I wouldn't be able to get the car seat in and out at all.

McLovinn · 10/04/2024 12:04

Should mention that my car is very small so if I put the car seat behind my drivers seat the seat would have to be so far forward to accommodate the car seat that I wouldn't be able to drive!

OP posts:
quantumbutterfly · 10/04/2024 12:05

Hope they're not driving under the influence.

McLovinn · 10/04/2024 12:07

@quantumbutterfly It wouldn't surprise me from what I've seen of them.

OP posts:
quantumbutterfly · 10/04/2024 12:11

Police might be interested in that.

With their kids in the car too? 😡

McLovinn · 10/04/2024 12:53

@quantumbutterfly It's been mentioned to the police about concerns for the children before by other neighbours as I am not the only one who is disturbed by the noise and the smell but the police have said that without proof they won't take any action.

Our row of terraced houses also had a rat infestation recently most likely caused by the amount of refuse left outside their home.. food waste and other rubbish left to blow about all over the front of all our gardens etc. Nightmare.

Environmental health about the rubbish and ss about the drugs. Calling it weed diminishes it imo. They use drugs. Fact.

Hippomumma2 · 10/04/2024 12:58

Knock on the door and ask them to move every single time.

Newbutoldfather · 10/04/2024 13:01

You are in a truly awful situation.

Firstly, records are really important. Take photos every time they park over the line and record the noise (with a date and time stamp).

Once you have records, report and copy everyone relevant. Report the noise to the council noise team, copying in the HA whilst saying that they don’t want to tackle it. Report the parking to the HA citing the relevant clause in your lease. Report the swearing at the children to social services, citing concern for the children. If you see them smoking weed and driving, report on 999 so police can catch and test them

Oh, and fold their wing mirrors in every time!

If you can afford to move it may be easier, but that isn’t easy for most people.

Allofaflutter · 10/04/2024 13:03

If they are stopping you using your parking space and the HA aren’t stopping them then the HA are breaking their lease with you. Do you have legal cover in your house insurance? If so call them.

Sadly around here the Police couldn't give less of a fuck about people driving cars whilst smoking weed.

McLovinn · 10/04/2024 13:26

@Daffodilsarentfluffy You're right.

McLovinn · 10/04/2024 13:28

@Newbutoldfather Thanks for this advice. I'll definitely keep photos and a log of everything but I'm not hopeful anything will come of it. The HA have made themselves very clear that they are not interested in dealing with it and to be honest the police are appalling.

@Allofaflutter Good advice. I'll try this angle when I next speak to the HA.

Why is it council estates have such noisy people living in them who don't care about others. I've lived in about 15 houses during my life time. 14 have been private and I've just moved into a family members council property, and the noise from neighbours! Dogs barking, people screaming and shouting, arguing cars reving and the smell of weed! It's just so noisy and the attitude is it's my house I'll do what I like and fuck everyone else!

Jovacknockowitch · 10/04/2024 15:45

Not in my experience - our problem with a young lad driving around smoking weed in a car with no tax or MOT started when his family moved into one of five £600k plus brand new houses they built at the top of our lane. The Police didn’t give a flying fuck about the weed or the tax and MOT.

McLovinn · 10/04/2024 16:07

@ilovepixie I have no idea. I've always lived in HA properties my throughout my life and I was brought up to be quiet and respectful of others. Where we live now is a mixture of HA and privately owned properties. For the first 5 years we lived here we had no problems at all from our other HA neighbours. Really friendly with all of them and everyone has been respectful of each other. We all have children so it's not like anyone expects silence but for the last year it's been absolutely awful since the new tenants moved in.
What I find worse is how the HA don't care and won't do anything about it.

They actually told me to try and find a house swap and to move.

Yeah right, who is going to want to swap with me when they come round and see the mountain of rubbish outside next door, smell the cannabis smoke and hear the foul mouthed shouting that goes on at all hours.

Some people are just awful.

I would complain to environmental health online about the rubbish and the smell of drugs and to social services about the swearing at the top of their voice to their children. Also to your councillor stating the HA are palming you off and you need their help. Try and see if this bothers other neighbours and make a concerted effort between you. The HA will have rules that their tenants are not to annoy their neighbours, find this exact wording and use it to demand they stick to their own rules. As others have said you are paying for the use of your parking space and are entitled to get it. It’s up to the HA to ensure you get what you pay for. The HA will also have a complaints procedure if you feel you are being ignored, ask them for it. Put everything in writing, no phone calls.

You can use this site to report welfare concerns https://crimestoppers-uk.org/keeping-safe/child-neglect
Sounds like the kids are inhaling drugs daily and being shouted at that like is awful 😖 😱
