Real Life Hunger Games?

A really stupid question, but I have really bad insomnia at the moment so entertain me!

I couldn’t sleep the other night (surprise, surprise!) and The Hunger Games movie was on one of the channels, and it got me thinking about real life scenarios.

If it was completely voluntary, a huge sum of money (say 100 million pounds?) and adults only, could you take part in a real life version of it?

No. I'm fat and old. I'd die in about ten seconds.

TheMuskratOfDestiny · 10/04/2024 02:58

Nope

HerRoyalNotness · 10/04/2024 03:01

Absolutely not. Don’t want to murder someone, don’t want to be murdered

OriginalFloorboards · 10/04/2024 03:11

No. I’d be done in within a millisecond!

malificent7 · 10/04/2024 04:11

Er.... no. It's only money.

Itsonlymashadow · 10/04/2024 04:24

No I wouldn’t choose to participate.

When I have watched the the films, I have wondered how I would do if I was in. I reckon I would last the first day. But not longer than that.

The only hope I would have of winning is by luck, like Annie won hers. So wouldn’t volunteer.

I've not seen the movies but have just finished the first book.
No way.
That said, none of my family are starving to death, or indeed are even in a position where they might not be able to afford a nice meal. That would change things. Although I wouldn't be a good bet.
I also imagine I'd run into Andrew Tate there. He's stronger than me, more violent and has done reality TV before so would be getting gifts from sponsors every day! You'd be up against 23 of the most violent people in the world.

In a world where I wasn't sick and disabled and destined to die 20 seconds in...

It would depend on what my life looked like. If I had the basics like food and shelter I wouldn't enter no matter how much money was offered as I don't care about a "luxury" lifestyle.

If I was living in a dystopia like in the books and thought I had any chance of overthrowing the system and making a better life for my whole community then I'd do it. But I'd go in expecting to die and just do what I could to help until that point. Life wouldn't be worth living anyway.

Of course people would, Christ they’ll screw someone over for a parking spot!

The odds would be never in your favor, since the chance of death is well over 90 percent for each participant
