Is it normal to feel lacking in energy and bleurgh after holiday?

I’ve just got back from over a week’s holiday where I got to relax totally and am working from home. Usually I love my job and I feel highly motivated. Got two SEN kids and am a lone parent. No help from anyone usually. It’s just been back to earth with a bump.

Is it normal to feel totally bleurgh and lethargic on first day back after a holiday?

Absolutely it’s such an anti climax coming home

The only way to cure the feeling is to book another trip…that’s official medical advice, you must look after your health.

Didn’t sleep well. Two kids are at home. One child has tonsillitis too. One child has commented that I look fatter.

Yep. I got a coldsore the day after getting back from mine in Feb. Not fair.

You realise things about your life when you are on holiday. The change of scene makes some things clearer.

Maybe …but we hit reality when we get home

I think sometimes knowing I’ve got to get back into work/housework/general life admin after a nice holiday hits me like a wall of fatigue. It’s almost the thought of getting back on the horse rather than the horse itself, if that makes sense.

It is if you have kids! I have a partner and my kids don't have sen but I'm always so relieved to get home after a holiday. Need a holiday to recover!

One thing that I find helps is to book an extra day off if your kids are school age when you can just sleep.

You are a brave lady - I don't think I'd attempt two on my own on holiday!

@fixies i have to go on holiday with them! Otherwise we will be stuck at home forever!

Yes. I think it’s that post-holiday anti climax, plus the thought if all that extra washing etc.
