It’s one thing I hate about Amazon prime. The fact you have to pay extra for certain films and programs.

I knew this would be Amazon Prime. It really pisses me off too.

SendARavenToRiverRun · 07/04/2024 18:52

I knew it'd be Prime. So annoying. I find it really user unfriendly to navigate as well. Not always clear what's included and what isn't.

Soubriquet · 07/04/2024 18:53

Apple TV is just as bad. I signed up for their free 7 day thing because I saw programs on there I wanted to watch. Thought oooooo. Clicked on the program, and no. Some are free; some you pay more for. Cancelled my 7 day trial on the spot

Bloody kindle unlimited.......either include books or don't!

I'm actually happy to buy the sodding box sets of books, but no. Only available (some of them ) on KU only!

Ugh that’s awful

Totally agree. It's all the extra channels on there that you can pay an additional subscription fee for that annoy me!

And they've had the bloody cheek to up the price a LOT over the last few years, whilst offering less and now shoving adverts in unless you pay them even more!

GlobalCitz · 07/04/2024 20:44

I'm absolutely furious about the ads.

Astariel · 07/04/2024 20:45

I knew it would be Amazon prime too. Awful. Absolutely infuriating.

same with Apple TV.

If you are charging people for a service, they should be able to use that service without having to pay extra for everything.

I'm absolutely furious about the ads.

I was furious with prime video long before the ads debacle.

See also Amazon music (unusable without paying extra) and kindle unlimited. Just awful.

The user experience for Amazon is by and large awful. The only reason I keep
using them is for food deliveries - because you can order a shop at lunchtime
and have it delivered in time to make dinner.

But I hate their streaming services.

GlobalCitz · 07/04/2024 20:50

I need it for Kindle Unlimited (DS aged 10 falls asleep every night reading books and goes through dozens).

I also use Subscribe and Save every month.

Otherwise I'd happily cancel it.

Hankunamatata · 07/04/2024 20:52

Amazon prime TV format isn't user friendly

They only put the first book on kindle unlimited to get you to buy the rest. They have done that for years

I ditched my kindle e reader as cantnuse it for library books

OnTheBoardwalk · 07/04/2024 20:58

bit silly to think that Amazon Prime has the viewing rights for EVERY film they sell and all for £9 a month. They have thousands and thousands of films on their site

do you think they should be able to include, say Avengers Endgame, as part of your prime? I think Disney might have something to say about that. Amazon offer it to rent to give people chance to watch it if they haven’t got another subscription

never thought I’d see the day I was sticking up for Amazon

AComboOfSocksandNeverEnoughPants · 07/04/2024 20:58

What's available on Kindle unlimited isn't down to Amazon - it's down to the authors/publishers. Some of them choose to be included, others don't.

I suspect it's the same with films and TV - Amazon probably only have certain rights, so they probably can't decide unilaterally to include something within the subscription model - this has to be agreed with the distributer.
