After many years of mopping and cleaning my mop a cheap one after x4 weeks split in half nearly taking my finger clean off as I put full pressure in scrubbing the floors!

A+E Dr said it’s because when people use boiling water like me 😳 what tends to happen is when it’s left too long in the boiling water it weakens the internal mop leading the metal to become flimsy!

I don’t know how the fuck I’m going to get all this shit done with the kids work etc and only half way through the holidays with a finger bandaged up and in agony!

Word of warning ladies just approach with extra precautions if you do boil your water like me to get the floors clean! I’ve done this for years and first for me!

Im on the flash mops only now…its a shame as I really enjoy a deep clean with the boiling water and mop! But no lesson learnt! It’s nothing I ever thought of tbh!

Ouch, did you manage to wrap the finger in ice and get it reattached?
Sounds like a very cheap mop. The metal shouldn't have sheered like that. Have to admit I don't use boiling water, just hand hot and a small amount of disinfectant, I then use my knee pads and scrub! I find moping doesn't get the floor very clean, but we have tiles which I loathe, and would love to replace with carpet tiles.
Hope your finger feels better soon, and if they manage to reattach it, make sure you do any exercises they give you, once it's sufficiently healed.

Ouch! I think you'll have to do the bare minimum for a few weeks. Let the kids be feral, digital babysitters for support! I'm too lazy to mop like you, I have a steam mop. I'm sure it has it's own dangers.

Forgot to say, depending on potential nerve damage, it can be painful for a while. I almost severed my fingers a few years ago. Each with different severity from the same incident, they still ache in the cold. It was pretty painful as it's such a sensitive area, the stitches in particular. I hope you heal quickly op.

Thanks ladies it’s just hell isn’t it I always forget how debilitating it can be to have a finger injury when everyday I’ve got a million and one things to do 😅! I’ll never take advantage of my fingers again! I’ve done silly things like ripped off acrylic nails etc and that’s very ouch but this was is another level 🤮
