To be freaking out at this bump/soreness/raised bit high up on labia?

Probably health anxiety. But it's sore and it hurts, and the area (above the clitoris, in the fleshy bit below the hairy bit) It looks all red and sore but I can't actually see if there's a bump? I've had a lot of health anxiety lately because of ongoing health issues (unrelated to this).

Is it an ingrowing hair? I can't even tell. I did shave a few days ago.

I also have a condition called Lichen Sclerosus which means slightly raised risk of vulvar cancer. I'm 32 and I know it's unlikely but I'm spiralling. Won't be able to see a GP until Monday at the earliest.

Do you see a specialist for the LS? I see a dermatologist specialising in gynaecology and I often get those sore patches. As long as your LS is well managed, use dermovate regularly especially for flare ups then I don’t worry too much as the skin calms down and the sores and bumps go away. I think the risk of vulva cancer is 4% but it’s a slow progressing cancer. Make sure you see a specialist like once a year for check ups. A GP is not specialist enough with a condition like this but they can refer you on.

It's sore , that's a good thing ... Cancerous lumps are very rarely sore

What you are describing definitely sounds like an ingrown hair/ blocked follicle / small cyst ; ESPECIALLY given that you shaved the area a few days ago.

Frequent bathing, apply hot/cold compresses to the area should keep it clean and ease the swelling. A spot of antiseptic cream wouldn't hurt either.

If you are struggling to get a decent look, try angling a mirror or taking a photo that you can then zoom in to.

Get a photo of it onto Sporner Corner, they love that stuff.

Batholins Cyst.

I had one. Sore AF.

They bugger off after about a week.

buzzheath · 05/04/2024 16:58

@TheLightSideOfTheMoon Nah it's not a Batholin's Cyst. It's really high above, well above the clitoris, just below the hairy bit.

@DaisyLouB Thank you! Yes, I do see a gynae regularly and in fact just saw mine a few weeks back and he said all looks fine. I guess my brain is jumping to a scenario where he missed something...

I don't think this bump is to do with LS though, as that's usually really well controlled with the dermovate, and the symptoms are itching and white patches, not bumps like this. It's like I can feel something hard and immovable inside. Really hoping just an ingrowing hair.
