Firstly she runs an MLL business which specialises in beauty. So that probably has something to do with it.
Anyway, she is how 41 and ever since she was 40, she has gone on and on about greying hair, ageing skin and deep fine lines that she is now experiencing. Most days there is a post about it and yes as I said, a large part is to sell her products I know. But also, the idea that 40 is decrepit and that you have to work super hard to look halfway decent is just absurd to be honest. I have blocked her now but aibu to feel like this ?

I'd be tempted to troll her. Eg next time she goes on about how decrepit she looks I'd say "Hmmm, yes I see what you mean. Thankfully, I dont have that issue- what's your diet like?"

Skiphopbump · 05/04/2024 13:11

Her products don’t work well if she’s already looking old and decrepit at 40.

OpalCitrine3 · 05/04/2024 13:13

Block her (or just hide all her posts like I do with my sexist uncle)

Edit, sorry just realised you did. To be honest, yabu to give anymore thought than that to an idiot on the internet.

IncognitoMam · 05/04/2024 13:14

I'm nearly 56 and don't have a wrinkle so she's doing something wrong. I use cheap moisturiser and only started moisturising at 50.

Screamingabdabz · 05/04/2024 13:28

Vacuous people like that will have vacuous opinions like that. So much more life affirming and intelligent content out there. I wouldn’t even give her a second thought.

TheSnowyOwl · 05/04/2024 13:29

I would have blocked her as soon as she annoyed and not given her anymore thinking space. I guarantee she couldn’t care less about you so return the favour.

AquaBee · 07/04/2024 18:21

Well yes I should have blocked her immediately.
I know she has a reason to make out that 40 is now ancient as she's selling her products through this bull. In the past few months have had posts saying-

By 40 you will be in menopause or at the least, very much in peri menopause.
You will start to smell a lot more especially under your armpits because of this.
You will not sleep well once you hit 40 and you will be up in the middle of the night feeling awful.
You will have started to see your skin line and age rapidly.
Your nose and ears will start to itch now you have hit this ageing years.

She says she does it to support and help women. I think it's to line her pockets. Anyway, not my issue now.

I was still getting asked for ID at 44. I would totally ignore her.

I’m 59 and still don’t…
No wrinkles to speak of. I have never worn much make up though, and only ever for special occasions. None at all for best part of a decade.

Deeply unfair. She's not "doing something wrong" she just has the face she has

Is this now a brag about not having wrinkles thread?

Maybe. In fairness I’m also overweight which is probably helping. As is my genetics. My point was though - the woman’s products aren’t a solution.

Bubobubo · 07/04/2024 18:47

I'm 76 and still get asked for ID.

I strongly expect you're right but it's not linked to you not having wrinkles

Well it is, in the sense that some people have wrinkles and some don’t whatever products they use. I wasn’t boasting. There’s lots wrong with my appearance. I just have neither wrinkles or the products in question.

Hebeegeebe · 07/04/2024 18:59

People selling stuff are EVERYWHERE, just block and move on. You don’t need to get annoyed, you don’t need to watch. Let her do her thing and move on.

I suppose you could look at it like it’s her job, lots of people work in sales, lots of people sell shit we don’t need, most people work to line their pockets.

Ah I see, sorry was a bit slow to follow

FanofLeaves · 07/04/2024 19:11

I am 87, not a single grey hair and I got asked for ID in Morrisons last week buying a lottery ticket. The poor lad couldn’t believe my age and even had to ask his supervisor to confirm I was that old based on the birth year in my passport.

(because we all know how these threads go 😂)

AquaBee · 07/04/2024 20:12

I just feel it is disingenuous as quite honestly, getting loads of grey hair, not sleeping, smelling more, severe lines and wrinkles are not what the typical 40 year old experiences. I know some go through menopause earlier but if you're in that much of a struggle as she says she is then she needs to see a GP .

Folk saying they're 56 and don't have wrinkles... you're lying. Go have a good look at your coupon in the mirror ffs.

Minimili · 08/04/2024 02:11

Do your nose and ears get more itchy as you get nearer to 40?

I’m genuinely interested because as I’m reluctantly heading towards being 40 I have been complaining about my ears being itchy for the last few weeks.
I assumed it was because I’ve been wearing AirPods a lot in the house cooking and cleaning and wearing waterproof headphones whilst swimming.

I’ve never heard of this phenomenon before and I’m off to google now.

I must mention I have plenty of other signs of aging unfortunately!
I don’t have many wrinkles and I DO NOT SMELL 😂 but I do have “invisible woman syndrome” and I now understand why people groan just standing up. I don’t think any skin products will help my mood swings sadly.

I’d be quite interested for a cure for itchy ears if anyone has any please? And I’d love to know if this is a legitimate sign of aging?!
