I have had 5, thickly spread with real butter and a sprinkling of salt. I'm not satisfied and think I need another 2. 7 seems excessive bit they aren't large slices.

Aibu?

I think I've gone to five before. I'd say make one more? Unless you've not much else to eat for several hours! Put blackcurrant jam on it so it's the dessert course! Haha

VerityUnreasonble · 05/04/2024 12:12

Oooh that sounds so good. 4 is my usual limit but I envy your commitment.

Hatty65 · 05/04/2024 12:13

You need at least one more. 5 is an odd number.

I never thought of that one. The last two for pudding :-)

I win!

How come you are consuming 7 ?

Surely the toaster must be completely filled with toast to achieve its toasting potential and 7 is a prime number.

Unless you only have a single slice toaster and live in toast poverty.

LibbyLemoncake · 05/04/2024 12:17

Well if it’s wholemeal yanbu but if it’s white bread fgs don’t you know there’s an obesity epidemic on and we have lost sight of what normal portions are etc etc (I think that’s how it’s done).

MoonWoman69 · 05/04/2024 12:17

If I didn't stop myself sometimes, I'd manage to smash a whole loaf in!!! Occasionally the toast tastes soooo good, you need to keep going! So long as it's not every day (or week come to that!) I think it's fine to indulge! I love blackcurrant jam! Pudding it is! 😁

Whatsthepickle · 05/04/2024 12:21

I very rarely eat toast and did it in batches. The first 5 were with Kerrygold and the final two with Lurpak. It was with white bread but I don't think I would have gone for 7 slices of brown bread. Am satisfied now!

How did you end up with an odd number? Surely everyone toasts two slices at a time

Funfuninthesunsun · 05/04/2024 12:29

Go for it. Toast is one of the best food groups.

InTheShallowTheShalalalalalalalow · 05/04/2024 12:30

I'm just here for the word gluttonous which will appear before long 🤣

OpalCitrine3 · 05/04/2024 12:31

You may as well finish the loaf at this stage, yanbu

abracadabra1980 · 05/04/2024 12:33

I feel your pain, however I have that anmount over the day, most days. I’m absolute bread monster and literally salivate at toast and salty butter. I couldn’t live without bread, it makes up at least two of my three meals a day. I fill my ‘sandwich meals’ with healthy things. I’m not overweight and never have been, and I find people who eat low carb diets impossible to relate to 🙃

We got a new toaster that has one long slot rather than 2 smaller ones. It fits 3 small slices squeezed in tightly.

Bloody hell OP I only had to read your title and headed straight to the kitchen and ate 4 slices of toast (not GF and I should eat only GF bread but didn't have any!) smothered with butter and then A LOT of peanut butter BlushBlush

suki1964 · 05/04/2024 13:39

@abracadabra1980

that made me laugh!

im a very reluctant low carber! I have to eat extremely low carb to avoid medication for diabetes.

it sucks!!!

I shouldn't open these threads, I looooove toast. But I don't like how unwell the carbs make me. Long term health issues, but also immediate side effects. I HATE it.

im vegetarian too, so that makes low carbing even more sodding miserable!!

@Whatsthepickle Enjoy it, for me!!! 😋

falutoo · 05/04/2024 13:48

I hate threads like this. Just eat what you want. It always ends up as twee and then you’ll eventually attract the almond people.

There was a crème egg one not that long ago.

YANBU to eat five slices of toast but YABU to own this toaster? One long slot?? brain cannot process

Im not low carbing, just now white bread really really upsets my stomach, really, and wholemeal, which I can tolerate , really doesnt hit the spot the same, so I just dont bother

I really miss a slice of white, toasted to near cremation one one side in front of the fire, a slice of cold butter, folded and popped into gob whilst toasting the next :)
