To think these plants are not healthy??

Just need a reality check please...received these yesterday from J Parker and immediately complained about the state of them, never had such sorry looking seedlings from an online garden centre. I have just had a reply that 'It is normal for perennials to not look their best at this stage,' and that 'They will perform as advertised' once planted. Pic 1 - fox gloves, 2 veronica spicata, plus I also added a pic of some healthy veronica spicata I have bought from a different retailer for comparison! Gardeners, AIBU to think these Parker seedlings are unlikely to come to much??

They look like they need a bit of TLC but there’s no reason they won’t be fine.

I’d expect them to be fine, just get them potted up. Are the pot sizes what you ordered?

Nannyfannybanny · 05/04/2024 10:06

Pretty standard for plants through the post. They get battered about and you don't know how long they have been in transit.

The foxgloves look fine, loads of roots. The Veronica look as if they've been in the dark for a while, were they delayed over Easter? Look like good roots again.

Pic one-some better than others.pic 2- leggy and light starved and completely useless.

YouCantBeSadHoldingACupcake · 05/04/2024 15:08

Picture 2 ones are a bit pants, but the rest are fine

Look fine to me

HelloMiss · 05/04/2024 15:12

Absolutely fine!

KreedKafer · 05/04/2024 15:13

They’re only seedlings and they’ve come through the post. They’ll soon perk up and thrive.

Theduchy · 05/04/2024 15:14

They look fine to me! I've had similar seedlings from them before and they were fine once planted up.

J. parker do send out substandard plants and if you report to customer service they don't answer you ... their guarantee is worthless ... this dead and mouldy potentilla arrived and they will not answer the emails.
