On LinkedIn Person A posted something work related (insurance) and repeatedly used the word ‘cat’ - slang in their industry.

Their friend (person B) commented ‘meow’

Im not either person but I personally chuckled. Person A not happy.

AIBU?

I have no idea if you are or are not unreasonable. It makes no sense to me at all other than on a completely literal level and seems very random.

ImCamembertTheBigCheese · 04/04/2024 15:50

It can't be unprofessional if they are just 'friends' using LinkedIn.

Sounds like a harmless joke has just landed badly.

Idontjetwashthefucker · 04/04/2024 15:51

How pathetic

MBappse · 04/04/2024 15:51

What is cat slang for? I think that will help answer your question.

I personally chuckled at this.

PossumintheHouse · 04/04/2024 15:56

I literally wouldn't have given this a second thought after perhaps smiling for a second at the 'meow'.

Hmm...

I think some people think Linked In is for professional contacts and job hunting only.

Others use it more as a social media platform with jokes and innuendo.

Which is where the problem here has arisen. Person A is in the first cat. Person B is in the second cat.

Mazuslongtoenail · 04/04/2024 16:00

A sounds very uptight.

LordSnot · 04/04/2024 16:03

B should apologise for hurting A's felines.

SofaSpuds · 04/04/2024 16:22

Some very funny responses here which will not impress A at all, but have made me chuckle 😆

A needs to shrug it off, ok while it wasn't the funniest of jokes it's harmless.

Yep. Same here.

BingoMarieHeeler · 04/04/2024 16:26

Literally can’t drum up a single care to decide who is being unreasonable 😄 yawn!

lemongrizzled · 04/04/2024 16:27

The person who said ‘meow’ will have made themselves look a bit stupid tbh

No harm in trying to life the mood with a little joke.

The other person sounds like a stuffed shirt.

stayathomer · 04/04/2024 18:05

I’d have laughed too!
