To take the bandage off?

Had my contraceptive implant removed this morning, the nurse has bandaged my arm and told me to keep it on for 24 hours. It's really tight and it's getting on my nerves, is the only reason for keeping it on for 24hrs to stop bruising? The nurse said I was likely to bruise anyway with my "English Rose Complexion" as she nicely labelled my ghostly skin tone!

Would I be unreasonable to take it off now?

You can take it off, or just loosen it a little.

There's no evidence bandaging reduces bruising after implants, but some women prefer them. Also serves as a visual reminder after having a minor op and gives you some sympathy LOL.

They just say 24 hours as a precaution; you're fine to take it off if it's bothering you.

Just take it off and put a plaster over it to save you catching it. It will be a tiny wound.

Thanks for the replies, I've taken it off there is a plaster over the little wound already!

You need to leave the plaster on for a few days to reduce the chance of infection.
