Absolutely none of my ‘go to’ clothes!

I’ll start by saying, I’m obviously unreasonable because why didn’t I check or do it myself 🫣

Posting for the absolute ridiculousness of it really.

Im away with my family skipping across a couple of cities we’ve been really excited about. I was working and did leave stuff last minute, ran upstairs, tried stuff on and made a yes pile. (Also, I left a ‘discard’ pile on the floor by my bed to just donate to charity later. Too small, unflattering, etc… I’m a very self conscious person. Don’t show my arms even in summer etc)

DH said ‘I’ve packed the pile you left.’

I said ‘thanks so much!’

we’re here. Of course… it’s the discard pile all inside out. Not the neatly folded pile on the bed next to the case?!!

why. Why!!!

I do have a very nice dress I wore on the plane, thinking glass half full!

Oh lord! Like an actual nightmare! Well I’d be in the nearest H&M if that’s an option.

Tacocatgoatcheesepizza · 03/04/2024 12:24

Oh no!!!! I can fully appreciate how gutting that must be. I need to wear clothes that are comfortable and that I’m happy with to relax and enjoy myself!! Could a little shopping spree be on the cards?

Gowlett · 03/04/2024 12:31

My DH would do this. Always dresses DS in crazy gear, when sensible clothing is right there, he “didn’t see it”. Puts a random wash on containing one sock, then complains of having no socks’n’jocks… Neatly wraps two bits of leftover broccoli (that won’t be eaten) & puts them in the fridge, forgetting about a whole chicken that’s then been left in the oven overnight. Etc…

toomuchfaff · 03/04/2024 13:18

Oh no!!

Time to buy more stuff, necessarily (obv), reminder of your time away!

theeyeofdoe · 03/04/2024 13:21

Oh no!
In future pack yourself.
We've had a couple of suitcase/packing disasters and I always now do it all myself.

Astrabelle · 03/04/2024 13:56

Oh no...
Wear your nice dress and head to the shops. It will be a fun story in the future...
My husband left my makeup bag behind when travelling to a remote location in France for a wedding. Thank goodness I managed to find a local supermarket storing some cheap make up!

clary · 03/04/2024 13:57

Yeps @Jessforless you need to head to a nearby shop and kit yourself out. Then leave the stuff he did pack in a charity shop abroad!

UpsideLeft · 03/04/2024 13:59

Firstly I'd never let anyone pack my case

Secondly I'd make him buy me new clothes asap before we do anything. Obviously I choose he pays

ColonelRhubarbBikini · 03/04/2024 14:08

Oh god I would be torn between laughing and crying, potentially both at the same time.

Bright side…? This could be the start of your ultra chic European ( I’m assuming Europe I don’t know why) capsule wardrobe. Get thee to Zara.

Whatifthehokeycokey · 03/04/2024 16:13

I had the opposite once. Had a bag of clothes when I came home from uni and for some reason my Mum thought it was a discard pile and donated it all to the charity shop.

StormingNorman · 03/04/2024 16:22

Sounds like it’s time to go shopping. Have fun x

Allfur · 03/04/2024 16:40

Why would you let someone else pack for you? Did he pack your underwear too?

Cuppachuchu · 03/04/2024 16:48

Well what more perfect excuse could you have to buy some lovely new outfits! I'd be delighted. Go get his credit card off him and enjoy it.

Flossflower · 03/04/2024 18:19

We once went up the Amazon and we knew that we had the leave 1 of our suitcases for a few days in a storage facility. The boat was too small to take too much luggage. We had 2 grey suitcases, 1 large and 1 medium ( or so I thought!). I told my husband to leave the medium case in storage facility. My husband had always thought we had a medium case and a small one! We now have different coloured suitcases.

This ! Wouldn't trust mine in a million years

weareallcats · 03/04/2024 18:25

I have been there OP! When packing for our honeymoon, to a hot country where it isn't straightforward to get stuff, I folded up all my clothes nicely and then put a huge chunk of them back in the drawer. It was pre-wedding jitters. Did not realise until I got there.

99victoria · 03/04/2024 18:31

Did you not notice the pile of clothes still on the bed when you went to put your last minute bits in eg toothbrush, make up etc?

Happyboom · 03/04/2024 18:34

OMG that man excels at strategic incompetence 🤣
