Neighbours doing work at night

Every night at 11pm they are hammering and also banging loud and slamming doors. I have a young Dc and it’s waking them up. What would you do?

Knock on their door and ask if everything is OK, as there is a lot of noise coming from their house.

At 11pm? That’s unacceptable
unless it’s a genuine emergency like burst pipes or the like

TeaKitten · 01/04/2024 23:23

I’d speak to them and let them no it’s too loud and too late.

Limegreen97 · 01/04/2024 23:24

Thanks. Yes it seems to start at 11pm each night, it’s happened for the last 4 nights and goes on for a while

As in actual DIY? That’s crazy!

Id immediately go round as soon as it starts and ask them to be considerate as you have children in bed.

If it continues report them to the council.

Definitely actual DIY and not bed banging against wall?!! 🙈.

Are they shift workers? They might have got into a habit of not thinking of 11pm as late? Have a polite chat with them if you get on ok.

I like this. Surely though at that time you could call the police?

@Mummame2222 call the police? For what lol. Yes it would annoy me too but surely talk to them first

Crumpleton · 02/04/2024 00:21

At best if you feel comfortable doing so you could ask them to be a bit more considerate.

You could also download the app that the council reccomend that picks up the noise to see if it breaks guidelines and keep a log, but generally noise should be limited between 11pm - 7am.

Then again they could be the stuff you type and just do as they please.

The disturbance. Some may feel too intimidated to talk to them. It was a question not suggestion 😂
